HERE ARE THE CODES THAT THE LAST MECHANIC KEPT COMING BACK WITH. 109 ECM, 93 TCS LINK, 71 MAP, 52 ECM, TRANS. DATA QDM1 FAULT, QDM3 FAULT. WHERE WOULD I LOCATE THE IGNITION COIL ON THIS CAR? THANKS, SHIRLEY

The coil will be underneath the distributor cap you have to rmove the rotor to get to it and make sure you number your spark plug wires before you remove them...............

traction control light on . DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes are stored in ABS control module pointing to the malfunction . Take to a qualified repair shop or to auto part store that can pull these code. DTC C0242 00: Engine Control Module (ECM) Indicated TCS Malfunction
DTC P0856: Traction Control Torque Request Circuit
The electronic brake control module (EBCM) and the engine control module (ECM) simultaneously control the traction control. The EBCM sends a serial data message to the ECM requesting torque reduction. When certain ECM DTCs are set, the ECM will not be able to perform the torque reduction for traction control. A serial data message is sent to the EBCM indicating that traction control is not allowed.

Traction Control Off Indicator
The IPC illuminates the traction off indicator when the following occurs.
• The EBCM disables engine torque reduction due to a malfunction and sends a serial data message to the IPC requesting illumination.
• The driver manually disables VSES and engine torque reduction by pressing the traction control switch. The EBCM sends a serial data message to the IPC requesting illumination.

Fuel cal-pak incorrect or missing

52 is a faulty knock sensor signal. The connection there may be loose or broken. 71 is an EGR temperature signal fault. Again the connection may be loose, or the EGR temp sensor faulty, or the EGR vacuum switching valve faulty.

Starts but won t keep running

your first problem is that you are taking it to a mechanic with questionable qualifications
engines don't clear throats or have relays do it for them
the car has an onboard reporting system called an ECM and any mechanic who knows his trade would connect a scanner to the data plug and read the fault codes ( you can do that at autozone or like spares shops for free)
knowing the fault codes , the faulty sensors can then be fixed or replaced
from your description of the problem it appears to be a cold engine problem as you say runs well for the rest of the day
That indicates an ambient temp sensor, Baro sensor, MAP/VAF sensor and low fuel pressure from a faulty fuel pressure regulator sensor problem
find yourself an accredited service center that has experience on your make of vehicle and have it properly diagnosed

not sure if the 93 has a mass airflow sensor, i know it has a air charge temp sensor that can cause the issue you are describing.

Cant Find a list of codes 1989 Buick Century. Car stalls and has a rough idle. coads are 31 43 and 44

Here is a code list for you. Remember this doesn't always mena a sensor issue, the problem can be in the wiring as well, or in the case of a lean code you may have an actual lean condition due to a vacuum leak at the intake or vacuum hoses or connections. On my Toyota Sienna 2008, my check engine light, Trac Off and VSC lights are one. Why? How do I fix it?

On most Toyota's that are equipped with Cruise Control (Vehicle Speed Control or "VSC") and with Traction Control System (TCS or "Trac") all of these lights will come on at the same time if the Engine Control Module (ECM) determines that there is a fault in the engine management system that 1. Prevents the engine from being properly controlled. 2. Prevents the VSC from being properly controlled 3. Prevents the TCS from being properly controlled 4. Any combination of items 1,2, and 3.
Most of the time it is caused by a single fault in the engine management system. Fault codes are codes that are output by the ECM to let a diagnostician know which of the many systems, that are monitored by the ECM, is malfunctioning. To find out what the actual cause is, you must scan the ECM for fault codes then use this information to begin diagnosis of the system that the fault codes point to.

99 Saturn SC1 ''Service engine soon'' light is on.

Did you get the code that triggered the SEL? If you know that, it will be easier to diagnose your problem. You can do it without a tool on the old saturns. Just need a paperclip. :

Use a paper clip to jumper Terminal A and B of the ALDL *Assembly Line Diagnostic Link* which is above your left knee.
Terminal A is an interal ground and is the top right terminal in the connector. Terminal B is directly adjacent and to the left of Terminal A.

Turn the ignition to ON.

All codes are 2 digits between 11 and 99. Codes are displayed on the SES light by flashing the light with short and long pauses to distinguish digits of one code from digits of another. The short pause is used between digits of the same code, long pauses are between codes. Also, each code is flashed three times before going to the next code.

For example, the sequence of code 12 will be: flash, pause, flash-flash, long pause, then repeat 2 times. If Code 12 is not displayed, the self-diagnostic pogram i snot functioning properly.

If only Code 12 is displayed, no system malfunctions have been stored.

Any existing system fault codes are displayed in order from low to high, except for Code 11.

On vehicles with an automatic transaxle and on which exist stored transaxle codes, Code 11 will be displayed last, then the SHIFT TO D2 light will begin flashing transaxle codes of flags.

When all engine codes have been displayed, Code 12 will flash again.
