09 passat fsi epc light on engine starts wont rev also wen ignition turns on a clicking is heard[thats new] engine warning light came on after

First of all you need to access the Engine Control Module (ECM) using suitable diagnostic equipment connected to the data link connector of the car, in order to pull out all DTC's memored. DTC = Diagnostic Trouble Code. Then you will bu full informed about the root cause of the problem, and you will be able to repair & replace bad pieces and reset the ECM. Then both EPC (Electronic Pedal Control) & engine warning yellow light will turn OFF.

Where is the diagnostic port located on my 2001 passat 5 sp. auto V6?

On the old Volkswagen Passat B5 (MY 1997-2001) the Data Link Connector (DLC) or diagnostic port is placed on the right side of the parking brake lever, under a small rectangle rubber cover. See pictures below:

On the new Volkswagen Passat B5 (after MY 2001) the Data Link Connector (DLC) or diagnostic port is placed on the panel above pedals. See pictures below:

Looking for the dip stick to check transmission fluid in passat 1999

There isn't one. Checking the fluid on these cars is a real pain. The level of the fluid has to be checked through a fill port in the housing on the transmission - if the fluid is level with the port, the amount is correct. You can get a feel for the condition by smelling it (it shouldn't smell burned) or dipping a finger in to see it. The catch is, this should be done with the transmission at a specific temperature, and it requires the diagnostic software (VAGCom) to do so.

Engine light on; slow acceleration; rotten egg smell 2000 vw passat 132,XXX miles

Hey there riddick,

That rotten egg smell is a problem with your catalytic converter. Too much back pressure is not allowing your engine to run normally.

I'll bet its been getting hot too.

Warning: For your own safety, until this is resolved, do not look under or stick your head under the car with the engine running. I've been in a vehicle when a converter with these same symptoms blew apart at the seam. Made my head hit the roof. If it happened a few minutes earlier I would've gotten a faceful of freshly flattened converter. So be careful.

To tell for sure about the problem, try to get it to an auto parts store that does free code readings from your On Board Diagnostics. There should be errors referencing the engine, O2 sensors and emissions. The exact diagnostic codes with determine your next course of action.

Be safe,
Mike
