My windstar Ford 1999, the O/D light blinked severally the went off I parked then started the engine back but would drive a while and not go into another gear so I checked the transmission guage it was dry then I changed it but would do the same I tried Getting it home, this morning it won't get into gear at all

If you check the guage properly and it was dry you need to add fluid immediatly or your gonna need a new transmission or you already do.i have a 2003 windstar and had to rebuild transmission. ford is known to have faulty transmissions

The first thing to check is that you have working brake lights. If they are not working then the solenoid that pulls the park pin back to unlock the shifter is not going to get power from the brake light circuit.

The Engine Control Module (ECM) detected excessive transmission slippage or no TCC solenoid operation. Check the transmission converter clutch selonoid. can be low on transmission fluid, clogged filter.
With the engine check light blinking, it would be a good idea to drive past the dealers and have them do a scan on the vehicle....You may be having a problem with the fuel pump....The pressure return valve or the throttle body.....Could also be a number of other defects which will cause the problem that you're having.....A scan will tell you what the problem is without having to guess
