The keyless entry and the button by the steering wheel wont open my trunk. I also tried using the actual key to open it, but when i inserted the key it wouldn't let me turn the key to open the trunk. I'm beginning to think I'll have to tear my rear seat apart to open it. Is there any other solutions or ideas?
You might want to try spraying some brake cleaner in the key slot. insert the key part way so the slot is open. wd40 might also work. it sounds like something has jammed since the key will not turn.
Find the door trunk lock fuse and remove it. That should allow total Manuel opperation of your key. If you cant find fuse just disconnect the battery cables. Will work the same way. The lock solinoids are stuck in the lock position disconcerting the electric should disable it completely.
Is your mother in laws body locked in it ?

Make sure car is in park then try moving ignition switch back towards you and then forward as if trying to start it. That seemed to work for our 86 Dodge 600 auto.

There is no lever or any key hole it is a fully electric operated power latch. As to the cause the park brake must be engaged and the car in park gear position before the hatch will open, is it?

Your lock mechanism is jammed. Might be hard to open. However there should be a release handle in the trunk. Simply remove back seat get access to the trunk. Crawl inside find release handle pull it. Trunk should open. Before you open trunk get a replacement lock mechanism.
