SOURCE: Ford Expedition rear brake brake replacement

The rear pads are usualy harder than the front and the harder the pads the more wear there is on the rotors Unless the rotors were worn to the point of replacement they could have had them skimmed.Being soft doesnt make much sense.Have an 03 ba falcon and only replaced our rotors after doing 125000ks The expidition is a similar beast that used the same brake system.Get the rotors skimmed and go to a slightly softer pad to extend rotor life

Rear rotors on a 2010 Ford E250 are stuck. Need tips for rotor removal.

WD40 AND A GOOD HAMMER, make sure the emergency brake is released and spray the hub and tap on the rotor and you might look to see if the rotor has two holes in between the studs and if it does then screw two 5/16 bolts in and the hub will come off

98 Ford Escort, Emergency brake doesn't hold car. Rear brakes okay, adjusted cable to 3 clicks. What am I looking for?

If you have rear rotors that look like a rotor mounted on top of a drum brake, you will have an emergency brake inside the drum portion. The rear brake rotors are not flat like the front rotors for this style.

The E brakes have brake shoes and they have "Star" wheels for adjustment just like the regular drum brake. You really need to take off the rear rotors to inspect the inner drum portion. If you do adjust the E brakes without looking at the drum part, chances are the drum is pitted and rusty and you will be lucky to stop once before the E brake linings are ground off.

The other type of E brake works off the Rotor pads. You will see the brake cable attached to a lever on each wheel. There will be an Equalizing cable connecting both rear wheels with an adjustment point joining the main cable. Although the 3 clicks moves the main cable, to have both rear brakes equally tight you need the Equalizing properly adjusted.

Those are the things you need to look for.

Rear brakes holding when I started to drive.

you will have to take the main rotors off and behind that is what looks like "baby" brake pads and this is what operates the parking brakes and sometimes they can hang up due to rust or wore out you have to remove the caliper and the rotor and they are just inside when you take the rotor off you will see them you can try an auto zone or napa for diagram pictures and prices of new ones
