I installed a fuel pump on my 2002 GMC Sonome engine 4 cyl. It started righd not startet up. But, after driven 2 miles, stalled out and died. Since then I could start only after taking out pump out of tank and reinstalled. Oil pressure is more than 40 PSI. I can not find any voltage from terminal.. I put a hotwire (jumper) from 87 terminal to 30 Terminal in fuel pump relay terminal, still no juice. I put a wire from batter to straight to pump . The new pump made noise . Still could not start. In this morning I put a jumper from 87 terminal to pump. I managed the engine running. I could start without jumper about 5 times. While the engine running, I decided to take my truck to road test. Whiel the engine running, I was gathering some tools and equipment for in case of broke down, the engine shut off. Why does my truck do this? I need help, please.

It is very important to look at the four pin connector that plugs onto fuel tank sending unit the hot wire that runs the pump gets loose and burn the connector making intermittent connection they make a replacement plug for this problem also check the connections on the inside i have those fail once.

Maybe the oil pressure sensor or switch that keeps the pump running after engine started.

If you jumped 87 and 30, it should have turned the pump on. If those are the right terminals at the fuel pump relay, and I think they are. Those are usually the right ones.
Try this: one of those terminals should be hot at all times, the feed for the fuel pump. Check for a hot terminal there. If the feed for the pump is lost, it will probably be a blown maxi fuse or fusible link supplying that relay's power feed.
If it still starts and dies, check the fuel pressure. If pressure is at specification, both key on, engine off and with engine running, it could be an ignition problem (crank sensor?), not a fuel problem. But you may be right to pursue the oil pressure switch or the pcm, if the pump was still running as you say at the fuel filter .

At terminals 85 and 86 of the pump relay, you could check for the computer signal on one of those with the engine cranking. With engine cranking, the computer sends a signal to the coil side of the relay, either the 85 or 86 terminal, and the other terminal will go to ground. Do you have a test light or voltmeter?

1996 GMC Sonoma Acceleration problem!

If the check engine light is on I would have that checked first. The trouble codes in the computer will help point you in the right direction for troubleshooting.
You could have a sticking fuel injector, or an ignition problem, or both.

Smell of the oil,to see if the fuel injector(spider)is leaking into the crank case,if so,the intake will have to be removed to repair the problem,oh,and change the oil.

I have a 2001 GMC Sonoma 4.3L that stalled while driving. Will turn over but wont start. Have spark, new battery, and the back spark plugs are dry. No error codes. Has fuel to manifold.

SOUND LIKE FUEL PUMP BAD. CHECK FUEL PUMP RELAY AND FUSE.MAKE SURE YOUR ENGINE IS NOT OVERHEATING.SCAN IT FOR IDLE SPEED CONTROL AND ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR FAULTS.
