There is a history of them discharging power overnight. I have never heard of a car discharging a battery when you put it into drive!
Sounds like there's a transmission problem there. Maybe try a transmission flush and fill to see if that solves the problem for about $100. If that doesn't solve the problem a transmission rebuild is probably the way to go to fix the problem.
That procedure is a lot more than the flush and fill, though.
no the P light ans system will always be on unless you command a drive or N funtion since there is no 'park' in the drive train only a mechanical brake. when running/on, when you put in drive it should acknoledge drive and P should unlock. if not you have trouble and need the dealer
