When the roof is open, the warning light won't go out.

Then, when I start driving, a loud warning sound emerges which fades only after half a minute or so. The light keeps burning. When I stop the car and start driving again, the sound comes back every time.
According to the manual the warning light is supposed to indicate only whether the roof is properly closed, not whether it's properly opened. So the manual is no help.

I have no idea what could be blocking the roof. As far asI can see, it's properly and fully opened ...

    Thanks for the reply anyway.

I know that when you lower the top, you have to hold the button up for several seconds after the top is completely lowered in order for the locks to engage. The top motor will still run and when it is finished, you will hear a "ding". to indicate it is fully down. The error will go away and your temp will show up again. I had to call the dealer to find this out.

I have taken mine to the dealer for this problem they want to replace everthing on it. All I need is to find out how to disconnect the wire that makes the dinging sound.

Joris, I had the same problem when I first got my new 04. Dealer replaced the switch went bad where the convertable locks into the windshield area. Worked fine until I recently went to the car wash, and hand wiped down the car, and the canvas top area. BUT the sensor beeped again. After the car set for a few hours it stopped. I think something got a little to wet.. It hasn't done it again..and I have washed it 3 times. Also I re-apply a canvas waterproof protectant every other year, since my bug is garaged the roof is protected all season. I buy the water proof spray protetectant at Walmart used to waterproof tents & camping gear. Hope this helps, SuzieBug

Your roof isn't properly opening. If it senses the roof being up to a certain point the alarm will sound.Something could be blocking it or whatever but it's not right.

DB9 roof failure

Could be failed motor, water gets in around that area and can't escape. Begins to corrode worm gear.
Sometimes the ambient temp sensor can interfere with opening roof, like give false readings then locks roof thinking it's too hot or cold.
As an emergency, you can close roof manually (see in your manual for instructions) all the tools you need are in the cars toolkit.
Resetting the windows can sometimes fix it and check the fuses. It's not uncommon for these cars to leave showroom with some incorrect fuses.

Sunroof opens on its own, when driving, just opens about 10th of an inch, you can push on it and it lifts also

it sounds as though the actual glass roof section has come loose from the frame that allows the roof to slide back and forth , try opening the roof half way and see if there are any securing screws/bolts from the glass roof edge to the frame , i've tried to get a schematic but have'nt found one yet , will forward one when i do , hope this helps

Warning light keeps kicking in and bleeping. Why won't the top open now?

Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait 10 minutes. Reconnect and try to retract it again. Let us know how it goes.

Car won't start

It sounds like your battery has had it! IF you can jump start it, try to go to a battery store or a service garage to have your battery and alternator checked. If no other warning lights were previously on, it is possible that the battery just up and died. Otherwise, I would suspect the alternator.
Also, make sure teh parking brake is NOT engaged while driving.
