2004 or 05 Jeep Wrangler dtc P2096 (Post catalyst fuel trim bank 1 to lean). It set the mil lamp and then reset it self. Pulled the code with a scanner and found 1 of 2 to be P2096 and 2of 2 to be P2096 Pd. The description of the dtc os coming from my scanner it self. I believe this truck was detailed and then set the code. Possibly some of the cemical that was sprayed on the engine got int the air system and set the code. Cause is truly unkown at this time. I reset the code and have had no issues since. Maybe this is a fluke. But if not could become shoulder time on the highway for my son and his newborn. Not a good thing anyway. Can anyone help?

The engine control module (ECM) controls the air/fuel metering system in order to provide the best possible combination of driveability, fuel economy, and emission control. Fuel delivery is controlled differently during Open and Closed Loop. During Open Loop, the ECM determines fuel delivery based on sensor signals without oxygen sensor (O2S) input. During Closed Loop, the O2S inputs are added and used by the ECM to calculate short and long term fuel trim (FT) fuel delivery adjustments. If the O2S indicates a lean condition, FT values will be above 0 percent. If the O2S indicate a rich condition, FT values will be below 0 percent. Short term FT values change rapidly in response to the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) voltage signals. Long term FT makes coarse adjustments in order to maintain an air/fuel ratio of 14.7:1. If the ECM detects an excessively lean condition, DTC P0171 or P0174 sets.
Diagnostic Aids
• Excessive resistance in the fuel injector ignition 1 voltage circuit or the fuel injector control circuit may cause the following symptoms:
- Lean condition
- Misfire
- Rough idle
• The system will go lean if an injector is not suppling enough fuel.
• A lean condition could be present during high fuel demand.
• A malfunctioning MAF sensor can cause this DTC to set. Refer to DTC P0101 .
• Review the Failure Records with a scan. If an intermittent condition is suspected, refer to Intermittent Conditions .

DTC Descriptors
This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTCs:
• DTC P0420 Catalyst System Low Efficiency Bank 1
• DTC P0430 Catalyst System Low Efficiency Bank 2

This code could mean the catalytic converter on that bank has failed .

Circuit/System Description
The fuel pressure sensor is located on the fuel line. The fuel pressure sensor monitors the fuel pressure in the fuel line. The fuel pump flow control module (FPCM) monitors the voltage signal from the fuel pressure sensor.

You don't say what make , model an year vehicle ! These are for GM vehicles , yours could mean something else . Except the first three , those are genaric codes , same for all makes ! That code wouldn't cause it not to come out of first gear . How did you retrieve this code P2096 , code reader etc.. This is an invalid code , not listed in Saturn service information . Have DTC'S check by a GM dealer , Chevy . You obviously have a transmission problem not an O2 sensor problem . Some code readers will replace a code with an other if it doesn't have the right one . Software .

Lean mixture code could be caused by a leakage in the rubber boot that is between the throttle body (similar to a carburetor) and the air cleaner housing. Following are all the tests to be done for a vehicle other than yours... HERE.
