Holding the gas pedal to the floor will cause the PCM to put the fuel injection system into clear flood mode , cutting the amout of fuel going into the engine . Pumping or pushing on the gas pedal while cranking the engine over does nothing but allow more air into the engine , it's not giving it more gas . The computer has a set program it follows at start up . It's not like a carburetor ! Fuel pressure regulator .
I am assuming you have a Pontiac Grand Am. You would need to have someone scan the computer for trouble codes to proceed. The codes will point you in the direction of the problem but not tell you what to replace or repair.
the connector under fuse panel that goes on the fuse is heat damaged from overload or loose tension [usually is loose tension] obvios signs are heat damaged plastic around the offending connector.could be the wire is broken right at the fuse. you will have to get at beneith the panel and check it out splice in NEW connector[s] as needed
if it's fuel injected you will cause yourself major headaches by giving it gas (flooding) so you should actually be able to start the car without touching the gas pedal
look under the car at the gas tank .look for small metal fuel lines that goes to a small little round metal canister that is mounted to a bracket with a bango fuel line connected to it.thats the fuel filter.FIRST RELIEVE FUEL PRESSURE BEFORE REMOVING FILTER.YOU LOOSEN GAS CAP.THEN YOU GET RAGS TO CATCH GAS THEN YOU GET INLINE WRENCHES.TAKE INLINE WRENCHES AND BARELY LOOSEN LINES AT THE FUEL FILTER TO RELIEVE GAS PRESSURE.USE RAGS TO CATCH GAS.WHEN YOU PUT THE NEW FILTER ON BESURE TO GET NEW BANJO WASHERS.DO NOT USE THE OLDS ONE ARE YOU WILL HAVE A GAS LEAKS.WHEN YOU FINISH REPLACING FUEL FILTER.TURN CAR IGNITION IN ON POSITION FOR A FEW SECONDS MAKE SURE YOU HAVE NO GAS LEAKS.
Take your rig.. drive it to a gas station.. fill the tank up with gas.. also fill 2 jugs of gasoline at the same time... put the jugs in the back of it.. now drive as far as you can until the rig runs out of gas.. then, take the two jugs of gas.. pour it all over the rig, inside and out.. now light it a-blaze, then walk to your nearest car dealer and buy a new car..
