Are there any additonal codes being thrown for a misfire? Coils and plugs would be a likely culprit knowing this car

SOURCE: i have trouble codes p0430, p0301,p0316, p2195 and

PO-430 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)
PO-0301 Should be a misfire on COP Coil #1
PO-316 Misfire Occured in the First 1000 Engine Revolutions
P-2195 Lack of HO2-11 Switch/Lean
P2197 Lack of HO2-21

I have the same vehicle,only a V8
What you have is a very common ford problem. The Ignition Coil on Cylinder #1 is Bad. You can buy it at the local auto part store and change yourself. About $59.00. You remove the coil cover on top of the valve covers, then the coil. I did one in Feb and believe all you need is a 7mm wrench and 7mm socket. #1 should be at the front of engine/pass side.

The other codes are related and you can see if any are there, after you do the coil replacement. If so give them to me.

SOURCE: 2003 lincoln ls v8 has misfire code p0316 wat coil

PO 316 -- is a misfire on the first 1000 revolutions

You get that & sometime a lot of other codes you ignore

You may or may not have PO301 thru PO308 codes
The last # is the cylinder

1,2,3,4 Pass Side
5,6,7,8, Driver Side

Front to back

All you can do is buy one new coil and try it in
a cyl with a code or you may have to walk the
new coil from one cyl to the next and drive few
days in between.

The other choice is a repair shop with an oscilloscope
and the inductive coil pick up adapter

SOURCE: What causes 2004 Lincoln LS with V8 to go into

Over heating causes it to shut down 2 cyl n run on 6 cyl to help cool it down but once that happens the best is to shut it off check the cooling system check for antifreeze make sure its full then take the ground off the battery that's in the trunk beside the spare tire n leave the postive on but take off negative n leave it off for 5 mins then hook it back on it will turn the safe mode off back to normal. That's what I did to my 04 lincoln LS v8 3.9l... hope this helps ya

How to repair car showing dianostic code P0316

P0316 is a code that sets when the pcm detects a cylinder missfire at initial start up. Do you feel a rough idle when you first start it up? Its common for the ignition coils to fail on the 3.9v6 on the LS due to water intrusion. If you have access to a scanner you can see which cylinder it is that is missfiring and swap coils and spark plugs with other cylinders. If the missfire follows either then you can determine that the fault is in the coil or spark plug.
