It will only crank to start in neutral or park. If you turned the switch off before you put in park, the shifter will not move up to get in either. Turn the switch on, put it in park, then turn the switch off. The key won't even come out if not in park. Safety features can sometimes be a pain, but they work.

you might have an electric problem since the brake switch comunicates with the transmission module

try checking and replacing the B/T fuse. if blowen fuse the u wanna replace turn the car on and drive it round alittle, make sure u have 15amp back up fuses with you! then after put it in park then back into drive to check shifting!

Stones in tire treads? Pull the rear wheels for a look-see. Inspect brakes and all hardware. Have then lubed. Make sure linings or pads are not glazed to eliminate squeaking noise.Make sure parking brake works properly and smoothly. It may beone or more of those things. Good luck there, pardner.

i would try to get down to the linkage adjustment and see if maybe it is not adjusted properly or if it jumped out of alignment. Place the transmission in park and the selector in park after loosening nut and then tighten down the nut.
