Yes it uses r134 a port located on left side top of car front view by the window washer fluid plug is blck unscrew plug add r134a while car is on and ac is on

Depends on the year. Cars in the early 90's used R12. Anything later uses R134a. The size of the charge ports will define the R134a port. An adapter is needed to fit on the charging hose. R12 requires no such adapter. Ther charging label under the hood will tell you what refrigerant is needed too. Since you failed to give enough information on what make and model car you have, a general answer for the location of the low pressure port will be given. On the compressor, the larger diameter hose connection is the low side. Connect there, or look for the drier/accumulator (Large diameter silver container near the firewall). Connect there. You will need to access the AC information label under the hood to determine how much freon to add to the system.
Barring any wiring problems, the most likely cause is that it's low on refrigerant. When the refrigerant is low the high pressure switch stops the clutch from engaging. Since the car is a 1990 it requires R12 refrigerant (which is not used anymore). You will need to install a conversion kit for R134a refrigerant (the kit costs about $10 at Autozone) Have the system vacuum checked and charged with the proper amount of R134a refrigerant and oil. Hope this helps.
AC DISCHARGE SIDE HIGH PRESSURE SIDE IS LEADING FROM AC COMPRESSOR REFRIGERANT LINE TO CONDENSOR THE HIGH PRESSURE SIDE PORT ON REFRIGERANT LINE ON THE CONDENSOR.
The refrigerant needed by your lumina is the freon(R134A) gas which can be purchased at the auto parts store.
Please follow the instructions below carefully.
1.To install freon in your 98 lumina you will need to purchase the freon (r134a) and a hose kit from your local parts store.
2.locate the low pressure side of your ac system, usually by the radiator, but sometimes next to the condenser. The hose will only fit on one, so if it doesnt fit on the first you find, find the other.
3.Afterwards,with the car running and the ac on full blower, puncture the can and allow freon to flow freely into the system.
There may be a restriction in the plumbing of the air conditioning system that is making the high side pressure too high, thus shutting off the a/c for safety reasons.
Or, the refrigerant pressure on the low side is too low, caused by not enough r134a refrigerant in the system.
it should use R134 it should have a tag on the front of the hood that says what is uses. if it uses 12 than you will need to drain all the fluid and start fresh with R134
You most likely need to replenish the A/C. This is easy to do... Go to local auto shop and get RF-134 refrigerant, they should have one with the hose and gauge already to go. The port is on the left side (as you are facing the car) of the engine. Look for the refrigerant warnings. Hook up the refrigerant and start the car, let it run for a few minutes. release refrigerant until gauge is in the green. You can probably find better instructions through Google.
