Gentlemen-
Remove the turn signal from the Drivers Side and push a long screwdriver into the spot until you trigger the latch, this is a tedious chore at best but sooner or later you will trip the latch and the hood will open, then pull the cross over cable and unlatch the hood. Please replace the opening cables, both of them and build an EMERGENCY HOOD CABLE and run it down until you can reach it from the outside, under the car. GOOD LUCK!!!!

SOURCE: Pulling the hood latch handle does not release the

The only suggestion that I can think of is to have someone push up and down on the hood while you pull the cable. This might lower the tension on whatever is binding. If there is a way to spray some lubricant with a plastic tube into the latch area, I would give it a try. Sorry this isn't more helpful. Just be glad it's not a Jag. Takes 5 hours of labor to open the hood on some models after the hood release handle breaks. Good luck!

Outer sheath of release cable has perished. You need to disconnect the cable from the inside , hold the end of cable with pliers and push forward the outer sheath with v shaped tool eg clawhammer and there will be movement of the cable on the latch side releasing it. Hope this helps

Hood release handle broke in my 2005 saturn ion how do i get to the cable in the plastic part where the latch broke to grab the cable

Confusing post if your talking about the handle that you pull inside the passenger compartment then unbolt the bracket that it's attached to and you will see the cable ///if you Mean the hood latch safety tab that you lift or move to the side to open the hood after cable release you must disconnect the lock latch or the hood striker that it locks onto and raise the hood this can be done by removing the the front grille panel or by coming in from under the vehicle to unbolt the lock latch assembly from the radiator support

Cant get hood opened on 2003 cheve malibu. Somebody broke the latch. Any ideas. Spent 3 hours in 17'.

Broke the cable or broke the latch? If it's just the cable, sometimes you can sneak a long needle nose pliers in and pull the cable by hand. Otherwise, the only way to get in is to remove the grille, and that may damage it. Sorry. no other way

How to open the hood on 1994 geo prizm when hood latch cable is broken under the hood

remove the front grill on car!
the latch is there. attack it directly

or find the cable. somehere and yank hard from side?
or cut the cable , then strip it back , unwound
and grab center wire, and pull with vise grips. bam opens. (luck)
if center wire is broken under hood then only grill off is the way.
its just a cable. no magic here.
access only is the question.

How do i open the hood manually the latch is broken. i have a black covered cable wire and the silver part of the wire is showing. i pull the latch nothing happens to release the hood

OK, if the cable is the part that broke AND it broke at the handle, then you can use a pliers or vise grip to grab the end and pull on it to pop the hood, if it broke somewhere inside the cable, then you will need some needle nosed pliers to reach under the hood and grab it there. if it broke off at the hood latch itself, then you will need to get/ make a hook or pushing rod to engage the mechanism directly to release the latch and then replace the cable the latch looks like this:

Hood latch broke

You might have to take out the grill to get at the latch, or cut back the plastic part of the cable and use a pair of vise grips to pull the wire to open the hood.

My hood latch will not pop the hood unless one person holds the latch up and the other puts their fingers under the hood to help it pop. cable broke off too

Hello: Try lubricating the latch assembly under the hood when you have the hood open. WD-40 works good or any type light oil.

1994 Lexus LS400 Broken Hood Cable - Hoe could I replace?

you have to route cable along the fender side under the hood like on battery side. you have to run it where it wont get in contact with drive belt.your cable has a ball of metal at the end of it.your hood latch should have a clip where you put your cable in it.you should not have to remove nothing.just drop cable in place.
