SOURCE: 1998 chvy 1500 loses power

check the intake gaskets. in the middle front and middle rear. If they are oily, it more than likely sucked part of the gasket in. When it warms up the leak gets bigger. The easy way to check is to get some carb cleaner and spray all around the intake while idling and warm. DO NOT SPRAY ANY EXHAUST PARTS , carb cleaner is combustible. The truck should stumble or even shut off when spraying with the carb cleaner if there is a leak.

SOURCE: power steering fluid

I would suggest using Valvoline Power steering fluid.  It is certified to be used in GM vehicles.  Hope this helps.  Let me know if I can help any further.  Thanks for an honest rating and for using FixYa!

On my 20001 chevy silverado 1500 Z71 engauged 4x4 and then steering wheel got hard so hard to steer desangauged still the problem persist

Sounds like a steering pump or steering gear problem. Remove Power sterring pump cap while engine is running and see if fluid is moving. GM's are bad about PS pump shafts breaking. If no fluid movement, Replace pS pump

1998 gmc 1500 z71 sle when i turn the steering wheel while driving around a corner,it feels as though there is no pressure from the power steering pump,it feel like something lets go then comes back maybe...

Therr has to be air in the lines or the pump is about to go. There is a product that I would recomend, but is usually only at a dealer part shop. It is a BG product for power sterring pumps. Costly but well worth it maybe $20 a bottle. I recomend it so much becouse not only will this fix your issue, but you probably will never have to replace that pump this is some good stuff. I would not recomend unless I had tried it myself on a pump that was going out when I first purchased the vehicle aprox 75,000 miles ago. The pump is great has not even wined sence I used the product.
