My turbo 350 transmission will go fine in reverse but will not move in drive?

this maybe a problem with the transmission module or that sadly first gear has gone bad in which case the truck will fail to move unless in second gear then up but if it fails to move forward in second then your transmission may need to be serviced or replaced

yeah this will work....most 350 big blocks come with either a 350, 350 turbo or 400 turbo transmissions.....bolt pattern is the same

Your factory tach won't be accurate because a 350 is an 8 cylinder engine. I put a 350 into a Vega, and my speedo was slightly off because of the differences between the ratios as well. I recommend looking for an aftermarket adapter, or a kit if you can't get the cable to connect into the tranny.

If you have good reverse and bad drive it is not a low fluid condition.Low fluid will cause a slip in reverse before it does in drive.The modulator only creates a throttle reference based off engine vacuum and will not affect drive ingagement.If you suspect a low fluid condition just add two more quarts and see if anything changes. Overfull will not harm the transmission and the worst thing that can happen is some may come out the vent.If you want to check the length of dipstick the take the bolt out of the detent cable and pull cable out of transmission while engine is running , when fluid stops coming out the detent cable hole it is at the proper level and you can remark stick if need with a file.I suspect you have a forward clutch problem.I cut my teeth on these transmissions 25 years ago.Good Luck!

It should be the 700 r4 transmission with the 350 block,
unless someone changed it out, it could be a turbo 350, if the truck is a 3/4 ton.
if you have 3 gears and over drive it is a 700 r4
only 3 gears turbo 350

well since u just got it rebuilt they might of did something wrong rebuilding it. but do u not have reverse at all? i used to have a 700r tranny and went threw 5 within a year if u was going to put a new tranny in it or a rebuilt one i would go with the turbo 350 or just the 400 they wont have the overdrive in it so u might not get as good gas mileage but all the money u will end up putting in the tranny it would just be better to put a different one in it. thats wat i did about 6 months ago i put a turbo 350 in my 1989 chevy 1500 with a 350 in it and its works fine. but when you put it in reverse does it just rev. up or does it move a little bc i had a problem just like that but it would move still just not very much

It's either your servo, or your bands.
Either way, the tranny needs a good cheap shop repair.
I'd just get a warrantied salvage yard tranny if I were you and save a few hundred bucks.

best bang for your buck 350 cid with a turbo 350 or 700r4 ... the 350 engine can be stroked out to 383 using the internals:pistons and crank from a 400 in big block... but just stroking a 350 on a hot tranny with low gears to drive those big wheels is important get a 4;11 low gear ratio you ll be able to drag that monster.

79 350 turbo trans, when you put it in reverse it poors out trans fluid

the turbo 350 doesn't have a output speed sensor like the trans that came with the truck orginaly. You will have to use a cable to drive a pluse generator,or switch the tail shaft housing with a 700r4e housing of the same length,and use the speed sender from the 700r4e or early 4l60e. note the tail shaft is the same splines but the 350 shaft detent hole my not line up with the relucture ring. therfor the output shaft needs to be change to, or have a relucter ring made.
