What is the map sensor code for a 1992 honda accord

The engine idles fast and idles up and down on its own. Was informed it was the map sensor but the first mechanic and it was supposedly changed, however the same problem occurs. A second mechanic said there is no map sensor on a 1992 Honda accord and is looking into repairing the same problem. I am beginning to think mechanics don't know what is wrong with my car. My questions are: 1. is there a map sensor on my 1992 Honda Accord and what is the engine code for it and 2. is there something else that can cause the up and down idling if not the map sensor. Both mechanics are highly rated but one says there is no map sensor and the other says there is and changed it. Help me please

1. yes a 1992 Honda accord has a map sensor and what accord do you have engine wise ?? because theres different codes 2. it could be a idle air control valve because if they get dirty they can cause the car to rev high low or even stall and cause the car to run crappy.

SOURCE: coolant doesn't heat up!

the temp sensor just tells you the temp of the coolant and it controlls the coolant fan to turn on and off at a certain temperature........have you check for coolant leeaks???

SOURCE: car doesn't warm up

It does sound like the thermostat. The sensor does not control the thermostat in any way, it only reads the temperature of the coolant. Your symptoms are classic of a thermostat that is stuck open or partially open. Take it back and tell them what is going on and have them show you that the thermostat is fine.

SOURCE: engine surge at idle 1992 honda accord

check your tps sensor, or idle stop soleniod. they both control idle. Its not a major problem it wont effect your driving but may cause vehicle to die at a light.

SOURCE: honda accord ex 2001 check engine light suddenly came on, car started to idle roughly

If it's running rough, chances are that it's misfiring. If the Check Engine light is flashing/blinking, it is definitely misfiring.
If that's the case, drive it as little as possible... Or straight to the mechanic because the more you drive it while it's misfiring, the higher the chance is of you ruining your catalytic converter.

Is there a map sensor on a 1992 honda accord

Hard to diagnose over a computer with out the proper technical data, or specs, or more info, but erratic idling could be due to a number of things, from, bad plugs/incorrectly gaped spark plugs, bad knock sensor, bad fuel/contaminated fuel/dirty fuel filter, clogged or partially clogged injector(s), loose belt/bad pulley, faulty computer, dirty air filter, bad O2 sensor(s). I've worked on Honda's since 1984, they do have a MAP sensor, they were normally located on the upper manifold towards the front on some older models, on newer models they are normally on the front-side of the manifold right around the belts and pulley's, on some they are underneath the front plastic covering that covers the water pump, sprockets and most of the front of the motor so you wont see it. The link below is NOT To sell you any parts, it's to show you what one looks like so you may find it on your engine.

1992 honda accord dx when its idleing it will rev up and down for no reason I took off a vaccume line next to throttle and it idled could this line be clogged?

yes or possibly more likely hose may be collapsing from the vaccum...inspect...also check throttle position sensor, idle control valve.mass air flow sensor, or possibly (map)sensor.any one of these could cause your problem.start with (map)sensor they are a comon trouble maker.

----------- thats just a normal warm up cycle, it will change the engine speed and mixture as combustion gets better with the heat.

I have a 92 honda accord ex that the it idles go

If it does that when the engine is warmed up (full operating temp.) it may be you iac valve, or your fast idle valve. They get gummed up. It also could be your PVC valve, but probably not.:

accord8.jpg
IAC in red. Fast Idle in yellow. Your PVC valve is plugged into the valve cover (the black hose in between the red and yellow in the picture) it simply pulls out. It should rattle when shaken.
Hope this gives you a start on the problem.
