1987 toyota camry. i change the brake light switch on the break pedal and the brake lights still dont work! where would i find the stop light relay?

Hi Earl, I do not believe there is a relay for the stop lights. Make up a test lamp and inspect the power supply from the brake light switch through to the rear lamp clusters. You will notice that the circuits connect to the lamp failure unit (When standing behind the vehicle, it is usually found on the right side, behind the carpets of the trunk (boot) and mounted on the inner frame adjacent to the right hand lid hinge.) If power is reaching, check for earth connections of the brake lights. Happy new year and regards John

You have a failed brake lamp relay, this is located at the back right hand in the trunk at the quater panel.

2000 300M. no brake lights. changed switch, not it. checked all fuses, not it. changed all bulbs, not it. Was burnt bulb on deck lid light though. Help Please! All other lights and signals work. ...

Dont just go replacing parts, that gets expensive and a lot of work and you have not fixed anything. First at the switch, make sure the Pink/Dk Blue wire is hot. (fuse #20) and then when brake pedal is depressed the White/Tan wire should be hot. From there it goes to the Stop lamps. You dont say if the high mounted stop lamp works or not ( I ASSUME not??? working) You say the bulb was burned out, but not if it works or not??? there is connector C200 that is between the switch and the lights. its located just to the left of drivers feet, in the kick panel...but you really need to verify if you have power to the White/Tan wires at the rear tail lights.

Turn signal, dont work, emergeny flahers work

first you need to check the ground connection of the tail lamp, poor ground connection might be the cause. about the turn signal, clean the turn switch using contact cleaner spray. If this cannot solve the problem. The switch have to dissmantle and service manually.

DONT KNOW HOW TO FIX A FEW PROBLEMS

When my "door ajar" light was on it was because the liftgate sensors (switches) indicated that the gate was open, even thought it wasn't. I took off the plastic trim, and took out the sensors - but that isn't necessary. Just soak with the switches with silicone spray, and see if that helps. There is one on each side of the liftgate - I believe both must indicate "closed" for the light to go off.

I have gotten replacement motors at Checkers for both driver and passenger doors - so now I have lifetime replacement motors.. The first time you replace them, a little drilling is needed on the door sheet metal, but it will not show up once the trim is reinstalled. This repair is a little involved, but well within the capability of a novice mechanic.

I have a 2001 toyota corolla. The brake lights do not work, i changed the fuse & the brake switch. The lights still don't work, what else could it be?

Have you checked the switch for power? get a cheap test light and you should have power on one side of the switch all times. If you dont it will be a supply fault eg fuse, fusable link. does every thing else work, intieror lights, clock, haz, horn. if you have power on it check other side of switch when pressing brake padal, if so ceck for power at lamps with pedal pressed. if so check for correct type lamp or an eath problem. see how you go...
