I would buy new, your life is on the line. it may be stuck with debris, maybe take it out and try to clean the mechanism with compressed air, if it does not work, then replace with new. Do you trust a belt out of a wrecked or junked car?

I've found that items like these are availble at some autoparts stores, but they get them from a dealer and mark them up to make a profit. The dealer is the best source.

Locations of repair shop honda tech in mi please I have already taken it to 4 shops in mich none says they can make the repairs needed,

it depends on what the repairs are that you want
if you want welded patches then nobody would be interested in that
however if you wanted the complete subframe replaced with a good unit from a wreckers /junk yard that was rear ended but the front was good
then panel shops would do that as it is replacing rusted parts with good parts
you would need to ring around and ask if they are interested in replacing the complete front end subframe with a good unit
consider junking the car and getting a unit with no rust
if the engine and drive line are still good then all you would want is a body shell and just swap over the units
or get a new car

My Vauxhall corsa 2007 subframe dangerously rust the garage wouldn't let me drive it wen I took it for its mot going to complain to vauxhall

your sub frame is holding the engine in place and if its rusted to a state where the structure is seriously weakened.
at this point garage will not let you or other road user face risk

How and why has my front subframe corroded on my 2006 corsa

subframes are made of steel and that makes it subject to rust from salt on the roads in winter. Leaking batteries also corrode the steel. brake fluid ;leaking will also cause rust in steel. so bad that it failed and inspection then the answer is to get a subframe from the wreckers ( good frame not rusted or bent) and have it fitted to the vehicle.

Installing subframe

The cost is going to be labor and will vary among repair shops. If the repair shop has the proper equipment, in real time should not take more than 2 hours, book time will be slightly higher, 3.8 hrs by Mitchell Labor Guide. So you just need to multiply by the shops shop rate, In our shop its $60/hr, so we would charge you $120.00 labor. Some shops don't like putting in customer parts and charge much higher - so beware of that. And in some cases parts get broken because they are rusted and need to be replaced. I would suspect you will have to install new Sway Links, since its common for them to break upon removal, they are inexpensive - around $10-$20 which would include both sides. Hope this helps.......Pete

Sub frame rusted

If it's the Malibu, the subframe is only in the front, holds the engine and trans, the whole back from about the front seats is unibody. The whole structure is just sheetmetal welded together. If the front is solid you are OK the only risk is if you get rear ended in an accident.
It would be weaker with the rust, also the hole could let exhaust fumes enter the car if there were a leak in the exhaust or extended idling .

Broken subframeon my esteem. Is there a recall or any compensation. The car was in good shape and now it seems to be worthless. This doesn't seem reasonable.

hello everybody,
I had the same problem on a 2000 suzuki esteem and I checked with the dealer. it looks like there are a lot of problems with the subframe, so suzuki extended the warranty to 12 years or 288 k. I know is a late answer, but might help somebody.

2002 hyundai santa fe , what is an open recall, 0pen recall# 089 91b024r3 .9

There is NO open recall on the Santa Fe, However, there is one on the 1999-2004 SONATA (EF) and 2001-2004 XG300/XG350 (XG) vehicles that are registered and operated in specified “salt belt” states may exhibit corrosion damage to the subframe assembly. If specified levels of corrosion damage have occurred as described in this bulletin, replace the front subframe with a new subframe that incorporates additional holes in the upper and lower panels. If a front subframe does not require replacement, add drainage holes and treat the subframe with rust-proofing material.

Rusted subframe

You may need to get rid of it. If the frame is rusted, it's only going to get worse. If the motor mount is not sitting just right, it will only get worse too. I would either sell it as is or have a welder to look at it to see if it's repairable.
