Grand vitara runs hot

is antifreeze dirty looking and if was changed was it chemically flushed?

Sounds like you have an air pocket in the cooling system. Take the radiator cap off the radiator(not when engine is hot) and then start the car. As air moves through the lines you will see the antifreeze level go down. Let it run and pour coolant into the radiator until it stays full. then put on the radiator cap and fill the overflow tank to the right level and I hope that fixes your problem.

Check your radiator for external and internal obstructions (leaves, bugs etc on the a/c condenser or leaves between the condenser and radiator, rust or calcium deposits inside the radiator core all cause loss of heat transfer)
Also make sure that the system is full and that the electric fan and the clutch fan are operating properly. (electric fan should come on just above normal operating temp and clutch fan should not be "freewheeling" above temp either)
Note: If you need to have the radiator flushed, do it separately from the engine. especially the inline 6 and 4 engines rust up inside and if the system is flushed with the radiator connected, the debris will pack up inside it and actually can worsen the condition.

I have a 93 grand am. It overheated I changed the stat,there are no leaks,no antifreeze in the oil or coming out the exhaust,I hooked the fan up so it runs all the time,yet it still runs hot. Any ideas.

get a Haynes manual and see if the water hose has a bleeder screw on a line that is up higher than most.
Usually a small line that runs over the top of the motor. I had this happen on a chevy Malibu and I just had to open the screw while running (but not hot) to bleed the air out of the line.
