2002 bmw x5 trans failsafe program message after oil change

First check transmission dip stick for correct fluid level. Next schedule a transmission filter change. This should have been done at 60,000miles

The engine fail safe program light came on in my BMW X5 2006 and now the car won't start ...can It be reset?

Depends why the Failsafe was triggered. Read the codes would be a good way to start. Anyway, since the car wont start, it may be the crankshaft position sensor, which will cause a trans failsafe and prevent the car from starting.

I have a question i have a 2004 range rover hse and the trans fail safe program code pop out and i heard a lil bump like if some one hit me and the rev of the engine just droped i turned off the car.

The 'Trans. Failsafe Prog' display indicates a general fault within the trans and this should leave a fault code which can be read off to pinpoint the exact transmission problem. Without this code it will be difficult to correctly identify the source of your problem.

Drop the trans pan and check for debris -- if you have metal in there, then you're going to need a rebuild.

How do I reset the "transmission failsafe program" light on the dash? The car seems to drive normal except for that light being on.

Keep driving it, you will have a $5,000 repair bill

Stop using it & hope you can save the trans with the
proper diagnosis, to find the reason it went into failsafe

I have a 2004 BMW X5, i was driving up a hill when the trans failsafe prog light came on, it has done this before & I was told pull over turn engine off, wait 5min at it will go, which it did. Though...

The transmission has gone into limp mode. My Boomer done the same thing' if it wont reset itself i think the only option is a BMW dealer to faultfind. Very complicated computor controlled transmission beyond any novice im afraid.

Transmission in failsafe mode

I would not be surprised if your module or parts you replaced needs to be programmed or put in sync with the transmission computer or engine computer. Check with the dealer. Sometimes they have some silly or eccentric methods to get everything working together again. Cars are not very owner friendly anymore...

Tranmission failsafe program problem

im sorry to say but it is kinda common for the trans to go out and need replaced on the e-39, you would first want to have it scanned and see if there is anything the dealership or an approved independant shop can do for you based on the codes, good luck
