You need a wiring diagram to
learn the circuit your working on,
& find places to do your testing

SOURCE: 2003 Seville STS low beam headlights don't work

ya its is prolly the bulbs, open your hood. look behind your headlamps, some have covers for the low beam and high beam. if there are covers turn on your high beams so you will know which bulb is your lowbeam. if you can unplug them. after cover is removed and you can acces the bulbs. they either twist out, lefty lossey. or they have little metal retainers that you have to move a certian way before you can swing the retainer out. its like a door you just have to unhook the proper side of retainer and the other side will be hinged. use a flash light and look at it close. good luck

SOURCE: parking lights work but headlights don't

Hi Clark,

The headlamp system in your Eldorado is controlled by the Body Control Module (BCM). Besides the light switch on the dash (which only provides grounds for certain BCM circuits) There are 10 different fuses, 5 relays, an ambient light sensor, a headlamp dimmer switch, the BCM and the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) involved in your headlamp circuits.

You asked about an easy way to check the switch...

The easiest way is to connect a scan tool and verify headlamp switch input at the BCM as you operate the switch and watch the BCM data.

I recommend that you begin this diagnosis by scanning your computer network for fault codes that may lead you to the cause of the problem. Please note that MOST generic OBD scanners (code readers) cannot access the BCM or IPC data.

SOURCE: power seat on 96 Cadillac deville wont work after replacing stereo. Any Ideas?

it is not a fuse, it is a circuit breaker in the fuse box, which i believe is under the hood on that car, i would check for bare or shorted wires behind the stereo before doing anything with the power seat.

2011 Colorado power drivers window and power locks stopped working

2004 nissan sentra power windows not working. Replaced door master switch. Replaced power window relay. Replaced 30 amp fuse under the hood.

Look for broken wires in the driver's door opening. If you don't find any, you will need a test light or voltmeter to check for power at the driver's door master switch. For any electrical testing problem, you really need a voltmeter. You can check for power to the master switch on one single wire, with key ON. You can also use the multi-meter to check the ground for the power windows right at the master switch.

All Road Estate. Electric windows not working fuse ok unit been replaced so thats ok. Do they have a relay breaker if so where is it located

Yes, they most likely do. Look under the hood first for box like a fuse box. When you take it off look inside the cap for the designated spot swap it with another one that's the same but not one that's needed for the car to opersate. If the problem is still there after swapping, check the master switch in the door for power and continuity for each switch and power in to the door.

2000Mustang,under dash fuse good, for pwrpwr.window, door loc ok,where is under hood slot for relay fuse located?I've no manual or other diagrams..Thanx!

Not a relay or a fuse for the power windows. It's a 20 amp circuit breaker in the Central Junction Box, under the hood. A circuit breaker resets itself if an overload trips it, so that is not likely to be a problem. The windows and the door locks are on separate circuits.

So, do no windows work at all? In that case, it is most often either the master switch on driver's door is at fault, or the power or ground wire to the master switch is broken in the driver's door opening. In the bundle of wires, the black wire is the power windows ground, and it is the ground wire for all the windows, so check it closely. The power wire to the master switch is a light blue with black stripe wire.

See if you can pull out the master switch and its electrical connector, without having to take off the inner door panel. Or if you have to, take off the inner panel, then pull off the connector to the master switch . Now all you need is a voltmeter or test light to check for the power and ground at the connector, with the key in on position. If both are good, the master switch may be defective.

I have a 2001 camry the power windows quit working but the locks do

Hi,
This is usually cause through a central switch system which is the master window control on the drivers side.
Have the drivers window control assembly checked and tested, it may need replacing.
Thanks

Power windows want roll down & power locks not working. problem started instantly. Had not had any of this type issue previously.

First check the fuses for power windows and power door locks. If they are good then it is more than likely the master control switch, this is the drivers side controls. Check fuses first, I am pretty sure these fuses are under the hood in the fuse box. I had a customer last week with same problem and it was his master control switch. Very easy to replace you try to replace it I can walk you thru the procedure

Power windows quit replaced fuse under hood replaced fuse inside still have no power windows

#1 so many people make the mistake of pressing the window lock switch on the drivers master window switch, double check to be sure it is not engaged. If that is not the problem you can pop the master switch out with a small flat tipped screw driver & check for power with a test light. If power is going to the switch & the windows still won't work, replace the master switch. good luck

Blew fuse under hood for power windows and fuse inside for upper brake lamp replaced fuses and still have no power windows

With a small flat tip screwdriver, pry the master window switch up & with a test light check for power to the switch, if power is present & all windows not working, replace master switch. be sure window lock is not engaged.
