96 GMC pickup w 350 engine, starts hard after like 8 hours.

Hi, my pickup starts hard after it has sat for like 4 hours. Ive changed the spark plugs, rotor, rotor cap, fuel filter. Will start after about 5 to 6 cranks, then runs fine. Fuel filter was replaced like 4 yrs before this one. Its like it maybe doesnt have enough pressure. Might you have any other ideas. I put a pressure gage on it and that seems to be ok. Might you have any other ideas?? Also put a k&n air filter on it. thanks, Mike

Could be your fuel pump relay you should check to see if the pump runes for about 3 sec. when you turn the key to the on position. It should if not the oil switch is turning on the pump after you achieve pressure.
if not check the relay. also with the pressure gauge hooked up check if your pressure drops off fast after you turn off the car. if so you need ether a pressure reg or a fuel pump.
hope this helps

1988 GMC pickup 4x4 350 engine its hard starting and will not idle i gave it a full tune up even a new fuel filter ive checked and changed all sencors on the motor

Do a compression test. The pistons and rings may not seal enough anymore. Try push-starting it in 2nd gear. When you push it ,it will turn the engine faster and build up more compression, enabling combustion to take place. Aslso check if the fuel pressure regulator is not leaking through the vacuum hose, causing it to flood.

I need a spark plug wire diagram for a 1985 gmc jimmy 350 engine

Most all Chev or GMC v8 engines use the firing order of 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. You have to find where #1 is on the distributor cap which is usually closest to #1 cylinder then looking toward the back of the engine go clock-wise to install the rest. Don't get too close to the headers. Plastic melts!

Please show me the position of the #1 spark plug wire on the 95 350's distributor

If you are talking about a 350 Chevrolet (GM) engine, the #1 plug is at the drivers side front. To find the position on the cap, turn the engine 'till the timing mark on the lower pulley points to 0 on the scale, then check rotor position in the distributor. If it's pointing towards the firewall, make one more turn. The firing order goes in the direction the rotor turns when cranking the engine over. 18436572.

Change plugs and wire and engine will not acclerate. This is a built 350 short block chevy with pro charger.

350 Chevy engine in what? 1990 Corvette? Who built it, did you?

Sounds as though you have plug wires wrong.
Firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2

Distributor Ignition System:
Distributor rotates Clockwise. (Rotor)
Find Number 1 tower on distributor cap, go Clockwise with Firing Order.

Distributorless Ignition System:
VIEWING the engine from the Front of the car.

Spark plug wire connections along the back, starting from Left side going to Right side;
2-3-7-4

Spark plug wire connection towards the Front of the engine;
6-1-5-8

(To guess I would say you have 5 and 7 wires switched)

Left side cylinder order is 1-3-5-7, going from front to back.
Drivers side is Left side.
Right side cylinder order is 2-4-6-8, going from front to back.
