SOURCE: 94 Saturn Twin Cam Valve Adjustment

Valve slash and clearance adjustments should only be performed by certified mechanics and is not a job for the garage or novice hands on type.
If you still decide to proceed, I suggest you get your hands on a maintenance manual which will list the procedure step by step, including proper torque values.

SOURCE: 1996 SATURN 16 VALVE TWIN CAM BATTERY LIGHT CAME

There seems to be a no charge state in this case. i recommend checking the charging system. use the procedure below to isolate this issue.

Wear protective eye wear and clothing and remove all jewelry when checking your battery and charging system. Jewelry is a good conductor of electricity and is not recommended. Most batteries wear out every 3 to 5 years and need to be replaced. Always replace your battery with an equal replacement battery to assure proper operation. Automotive batteries have a +positive terminal (red), - negative terminal (black). Electricity is stored in the battery and then supplied to the vehicle when the engine is not running. While the engine is running the vehicles alternator charges the battery for future use. (Note: never disconnect the battery while the engine is running. If the battery cable is disconnected from the battery a spark can be generated which can cause the battery to explode or a major electrical malfunction to occur.)

To check a battery surface voltage, remove the positive terminal protective cover. Connect the +positive side meter lead (red) to the positive side battery terminal. Connect the - negative (black) side meter lead to the negative battery terminal. With the vehicle not running and the car sitting over night the battery voltage should be between 12.5 and 12.8 volts.(You will need to use a voltmeter for this testing procedure)

The alternator is rotated by a drive belt driven by the vehicles engine while it is running. Electrical voltage and amperage are generated to recharge the battery and supply voltage to the electrical system of the car. The alternator is held in place with mounting bolts. There is a main electrical wire on the rear of the alternator that supplies voltage to a main voltage junction box. If your alternator is not charging properly, your battery will slowly drain down from operating all the electrical systems in your car and stop the car from running.(most non charge states will be the cause of a loose belt or a low tension rate, due to a mis-adjusted alternator. make sure you have enough tension in the belt for full rotation of the alt pulley)

Next, you will need to check the alternators output with the Amp meter.

Testing the amperage output of the alternator is good for measuring the amount (not the level) of voltage the alternator can produce. This test can be tricky because if the alternator is weak it can still show it as producing amperage. Which is good, but if the voltage is low, it will still allow the battery to go dead. To check the amperage output of an alternator an amp meter is needed. Once the meter is connected start the engine. Next turn on all electrical accessories and raise the engine idle to about 1200 RPM. The alternator should output the max amperage it was designed to produce. Example: a 90 amp alternator should output about 88 amps. Note: An alternator cannot sustain maximum output for long periods of time. If the alternator is forced to operate at maximum output it will overheat and fail. An alternator is designed to operate at max amperage output only for a reasonable amount of time.

((Connect the voltage meter lead the same way you would in a battery static voltage check, Start engine (do not drive) at engine idle the voltage should be between 13.6 to 14.3 volts. If not the alternator may need replacing.)))

No power on exceleration smells like gas hs a hard time pulling hills 94 saturn sohc 1.9

Start by replacing the air filter and checking the operation of the fuel pressure regulator. Have the stored codes read out of your ECU, either by an auto parts store or a local mechanic, in order to ascertain a starting point for diagnosis.

Trying to locate engine number to determine 16 0r 32 cam

Unfortunately, your question is very vague and hard to understand.

16 or 32 cam?
Usually your engine will have twin cams, or single cam.
Overhead cam(s) or not. You could determine if your engine
is a 4 or a 6 cylinder, and then you will generally find out how
many valves the engine has.

If you are in a 4 cylinder car, you probably have 16 valves if you have a twin cam engine.
If you have a single cam, 4 cylinder engine, then you will usually have only 8 valves.

The only way that you could end up with 32 valves, is if you have a dual overhead cam, v-6 engine.
Each head will have two cams, and each cylinder will have 4 valves then.

I hope that this is what you were trying to ask. :)

My S belt snapped on my 2000 Saturn SL2, and the engine immediately over-heated, and something cracked, causing radiator fluid to leak everywhere. I was told by a friend that it's part of the heating...

282420f.jpeg Does your engine look similar to this. IF you're referring to the wording on the cover, this is the valve cover. This is the only piece i'm thinking that has this. But this should not leak radiator fluid to leak. With the car overheating and something cracking, it could be the radiator busted or the head/block could be cracked. Try to fill the radiator up and see if it starts leaking. I'm just wondering if your water pump locked down or any of the other pulley's causing the belt to snap. If you would like send a picture to me at [email protected] of the part and I can better help you.

Strong fuel smell in cabin. 2005 Nissan. 2005 Quest. Any solutions?

Well first if you smell gasoline don't start the vehicle, check the entire fuel system locate the filter and check for leaking, also this vehicle uses a cabin filter to filter incoming air to the passenger compartment, locate this filter and replace it. there located sometimes behind the glove box door, or under the front cowling under the hood, in that space just under the wipers, If you can't find the solution and the smell persists, you need professional help ( with the car)

You will need to do a fuel pump pressure check. You will need to borrow a gauge or purchase one ($40 to $50), attach it to the fuel injector rail test port, it will have a little black cap on it, turn the key to the run position. Your fuel pressure should be in the range of 45 to 55 lbs.

The knocking noise is a little peculiar, check the engine oil for proper level and smell the dip stick. It may smell like gas, if it does, change the oil immediately. The gasoline has diluted the oil and is to thin, causing the knock.
Let me know.

I have a 1992 saturn 4cylinder twin cam. the saturn will drive and then die . I will wait about 10 minutes, then i can restart car again drive and then die. I have replaced fuel filter and changed out fuel...

My 94 SW1 did the same thing, that is the same basic engine but a SOHC. I replaced the crank position sensor which is in the block behind the starter and the problem went away. There are most likely other problems which can cause stalling, vapor lock due to bad gas cap for one, but mine was fixed by replacing the sensor. Bit of problem getting to it, but you were already in the area when you replaced the fuel filter.
