Replaced the battery and the car will start but there is no power going anywhere else so car will not go into gear, no radio, windows etc..
Weird! When you reconnected the new battery, are you sure you included all the connectors? Some battery cables (especially cars with aftermarket options and self-installed gadgets) have more than one cable that connects to the battery. Also, there is usually a 2nd wire that branches off the main Red cable that will snake its way over to a wire harness/fuse block/fairly large plastic connector with wires of all colors coming in/out of it. Perhaps that connector popped off or came loose when pulling on the battery cable(s) to reinstall? Check your fuse box too. Connecting & Disconnecting battery terminals in the wrong order can blow fuses. Always disconnect the Black (-) terminal first, then the Red (+) terminal second. And when CONNECTING, connect the Red (+) first and the Black (-) second. Good luck with this one. Let us know how it turns out!
Try to disconnect the battery for about 20 minutes. hook it back up and make sure you have the positive and negative wires on the right terminal. wrong way can short and burn your entire electrical harness. Check the fuses.
SOURCE: Think there is a battery drain somewhere
Their is possibly a short. I would first isolate the problem. Disconnect the CD player and radio. If you can disconnect it then remove the radio fuse.
Start and drive the car for 15 minutes or so. Shut it off, and let it sit for a while. Then go out and start the car. Repeat this until you are sure that your problem is with the radio or wiring.
If The car fails to start and is having a repeat of the problem you have a parasidic draw on the battery from somewhere.
SOURCE: will not start
Sounds like the MAIN FUSE has blown .
I would check the MAIN FUSE in the fuse box under the hood. It's going to be the one with the most amps. It might be 80 amps or so.
SOURCE: car starts but ac, windows, etc.. do not work
LOOK UNDER HOOD FOR POWER DIST.BOX,NEXT LOOK INSIDE AT THE BIG FUSES AND SEE IF YOU CAN SEE IF ANY HAS BLOWN.IF YOU CANT SEE THE LINES IN THE FUSES, THEN YOU WILL NEED A TEST LIGHT TO CHECK THEM.AFTER FINDING THE BAD ONE,REPLACE WITH THE SAME TYPE
SOURCE: CAR SHIFTS INTO GEAR BUT DOES NOT GO ANYWHERE
do you have enough transmission fluid in your tranny
