Difficult to get to but not complicated to replace. Remove housing bolts, clean the surface, (engine side) then put on new one with gasket if applicable. Tighten botlts in sequence slightly so as not to warp new waterpump...they are made of cast aluminum, (pot metal), and if you individually tighten, you run the risk of warpage and developing a leak. This is an easy fix...but in a tight spot.

Water leak at waterpump

Since you are able to determine that the leak is from the water pump, I assume your Grand Am has a 3.1L V6 and not a 4-cylinder engine. Water leakage at the pump is indicative of a defective pump bearing. There is a "weep hole" built in to allow for this leakage when the pump bearing begins to wear out. Replacement is the only repair.

Water pump noise

If you are sure it's the water pump, then the bearing is wearing out. It will soon seize or begin leaking. It will need to be replaced.
Google search Replace waterpump then your vehicle model. You should be able to easyily find basic instructions to do the job.

Was squeeling at waterpump.replaced with new pump.squeal went away.after it idled abot 20 minutes,it started to chip, then squeal it possible trhe new bering in water pump, was not lubed?,,and went...

Hi,The water pump is assembled with a sealed bearing (lubed from the manufacturer)
Usually you can feel play in the bearing when its worn.
The seal of the water pump will squeal if it runs without water (it needs the coolant to lubricate it )
So is it possible there`s an air lock in the pump area of the coolant system
Other than that the noise could be coming from something else that the same belt drives

Water and anti-freeze is leaking from waterpump

You need a new water pump. The seal is leaking because the bearing is worn out. Get it replaced ASAP.

My 1996 ford thunderbird is overheating and when it does so , it leaks water and anitfreeze from under the car and from top

It could be a number of problems. If coolant is not leaking from the radiator or bad hose the water pump is the most likely culprit. There is a weephole that the water can leak out of and the only way to repair it is to replace the water pump. Good luck

Wont hold water. big hose on the bottom of the radiator attaches 2 the engine and it leaks right out of the engine underneath that hose...

Well, if that Radiator hose is not leaking, then the Water pump seals have gone bad. More than likely you need a new water pump.

Water leakking from 5mm hole on side of water pump ford transit 1997

This is called a weep hole and it indicates the rubber seal is now leaking antifreeze onto the waterpump bearing and it's only a matter of time before the waterpump falls change the waterpump.

Water leak/waterpump problem

The water pump is where the alternator pulley and radiator fan is connected. It has a hole on its body called "weep hole". If the seal and bearings are already worn out, coolant can be seen leaking at this hole. To replace it, you will have to remove the upper radiator hose, the fan blades, and the alternator pulley. Just unbolt the old one, clean the mating surfaces, install a new gasket, then install the new pump.
