Nissan altima steering wheel

My 05 Nissan Altima wheel moves 360 degrees and the wheels are not moving. It's like something is out of place. It was driving okay yesterday. Any advice I'm not sure what to do.

SOURCE: i cant turn the ignition or move the steering

i think there is a ignition problem , might try replacing it , of course you cant turn the steering if the key wont turn , its a theft prevention device.

Testimonial: "Okay I'll check it out. Thank you for the advice, hopefully it is something else"

SOURCE: power steering

Sounds like a bad steering rack & pinion assembly... is it only bad in one direction or both...?
If both then it's the rack assembly... Hope this helps...;-)

SOURCE: my steering wheel in a nissan altima is gering

Hi:
If your steering is getting hard to turn, there are a few easy things to check before you assume the worst.. Open the hood and check to see if your power steering pump reservoir is full of fluid and the belt is on and tight. If these all look good, you most likely have some friction or binding in your steering rack and pinion assembly, and that is replaced as an entire unit.

SOURCE: The ignition is stuck on my 99 Nissan Altima. We

Have you tried to turn the wheel far to the left as you try to turn the key? Also try to turn the key backwards in the ignition while holding wheel to the left. If those don't work, maybe try sliding the key in with a little WD-40 as this will lubricate the ribs in the ignition slightly and just insert/remove key slowly and quickly a few times and then try the steps above.

Does the car have a key release button? Sometimes these get stuck with the wheel turned slightly and the ribs of the ignition will not close on the key to allow for operation of the ignition.

Let me know,

Chip

Audio controls do not work on nissan altima

hi
long story short, your car problem is, the spiral cable is braking up.
it fits under the steering wheel,
spiral cable is the part that connect the moving side (steering wheel)function buttons, horn, air bag, to the fixed side (car electric loom).
good luck

My 2001 Nissan Altima has a squeeking sound coming from the drivers side wheel. It only squeeks when the car is moving. And I don't think it squeeks when I use the brakes. What could be causing it to...

You will need to pull the wheel off and inspect the brakes. Spray some brake fluid cleaner on the rotor and disc area to clean the brake dust off. Next, have the wheel bearing checked and replaced, a bad wheel bearing would cause your wheel to squeak.

Gear shift stuck

I am having the same problem with my 05 Altima. For a temporary rememdy we took stuck a key down into the release hole in front of the gear shift. There may be a little cover over the hole, but if you take it off and stick something in it, it will release the shifter.
