On start up the engine starts fine and idles but wont rev up

On start up the engine starts fine and even idles fine but when I push the accelerator pedal it does not pick up revs even if I push the pedal to the floor there is no response, however after the engine has had time to warm up it slowly starts to rev up again and the vehicle is driveable but underpowered. Anyone have any experience with this sort of problem. Any help is appreciated. Cheers.

My Toyota Quantum 2.7GL idles but does not rev up. i ve changed the fuel pump and filter but still it starts, idles but does not rev up when you press the accelerator?

We do not have this model in US, but I assume it is a new model 2016-17. You throttle (and the "rev" ) is controlled by the computer. The fact that your car is idles - should mean that your computer is fine! There are two types of idle control: 1st- when you have a bypass of the throttle, which lets the throttle flop stay close while idling and let's the air into the motor through a bypass and electronically controlled idle switch. Inspect your throttle - the electronic/metal unit located on the large pipe through which the air gets into the motor: if you have a "bypass" for the air then you need to inspect your throttle body as it could be your problem.
2. most likely you do not have a bypass and your idle is controlled by your throttle body, then it is sure working fine and your only issue is that your engine computer does not know that you press the accelerator. Your gas pedal has an electrical unit on it which connects to the engine computer- inspect the connector/wires if all looks fine most likely your accelerator sensor does not work- you need to change the gas pedal unit ( I think it called accelerator sensor).
Good luck.

Vehicle rev's or accelerates fine when started for just a minute. Then it wont rev up. When you push on the gas it just struggles. Wont really go much above 1500-1700 rpm. idles ok. It is a gasonline...

that sounds like a fuel delivery problem. either the filter is clogged or the pump is not delivering the right pressure. i assume you have no check engine light. this would not set one but other problems like sensors would. being 11 yrs old i would not be surprised if the fuel pump was worn out. good luck

Engine over revs at initial start up without touch accelerator. Shut down and restart, sometimes problems goes away.

it all depends on what yr the ford is b/c my grandmas car dose it a lot when you go to shut the car off make sure it is in park and it is in a idle then when you start it it should be fine if not go under the hood and see if it accelator can be lossened a littel bit if so it will save you on gas and the idle wont be as high. if that dose not work then dont worrie about it it wont harm the car any and dont pump the gas pedall while the car is not running
