Rough start Starts hard and puffs black smoke when cold pls help

Well over here in ireland when this happens it usually means that you engine need ti be cleaned.
There is two ways of doing this one is to leave it in for a full engine clean.
The other way is to get it out on the motorway and drive it extremely hard till you see a puff of smoke from it then it will take off very fast which means it is cleaned out.

Have you checked youre water level? White smoke can indicate water. May be headgasket. I would also dble check valv clearances and timing for tge rough running. 180° out of timing may be the rough running too.Just go through top to bottom your work. could be wires not in correct position.

sounds like a sticking choke problem.

Black smoke is too much fuel. My guess would be that there is an injector that is stuck open draining the pressurized fuel into a cylinder or several cylinders. And that is a considerable amount of fuel. And it would account for the hard start because there isn't any fuel being pumped into the other injectors until the pump builds the pressure back up.

Its a hot start issue.

Can be related to low fuel pressure or problem with crank sensor.

Also it can be weak battery or starter.

But possibilities are to be inspected to confirm what exactly it is.------

check for ambient temp sensor and baro sensor problems

Pull the vacuum hose off the fuel pressure regulator and if fuel runs out of it then replace the regulator.

Exhaust problems. Black smoke=exhaust, blue smoke=oil, white smoke=water.

Sound to me like a bad EGR valve. Do you see black smoke if you try to give it gas whaen its stumbling?
