I shift gears n let the clutch out but I have to pull it back a little with my foot after I let off!
I have similar issues with my 94. Fluid level is good. seems to not want to return more when it is -20 or colder. Also seem to have a click when working the clutch. Could this be firewall as was suggested? Can be difficult to get into 1st and reverse at times as well. Also seems like the clutch engages while peddle is still pretty close to the floor.
OK this sounds like you may have a leak in the clutch mastercylender when they start leaking they suck air back in the lines and this can cause the truck hard to get in first and reverse gears ..,have you been adding fluid lately try to pump the pedal a few times and see if that makes it easy to get in gear .,if it does you might want to replace it
added fluid roughly a year ago and has not gone down since. Have pumped it quite a few times does not help other then to warm it up a bit on cold days when it does not want to come back up at all.
Talked to my Dad (Who is mechanic) and he suggested when it is tough to get in gear try letting clutch out a bit. This is to get the gears to sinc better have not tried that yet. As need to fix my being stuck in third first. I know how to do this just have not had the time. Been working on getting another vehicle road safe first.
It's air in the fluid. In cold conditions it contracts/hot weather expands, it also heats up under extreme pressure (normal fluid behaviour) but air makes the whole kaboosh go spongy or intermittent. Red
....I missed the 'fix' bit..............bleed system with fresh fluid and check for leaks around master cylinder and especially slave cylinder. problems caused by small rubber seals are most common.....

I'm not sure but I believe the clutch pedal has a cable adjustment . usually its two nuts one on top of the other, hold one and turn the other until desire pedal is achieved.
However ,if its a hydralic clutch I'll let the shop manual give you the bad news. Your gonna need the Shop Manual any way because it will tell you how to adjust "pedal free play" which is what your describing.
First check that both fans WORK.How? Fabricate two jumper wires and remove the connectors from the fan(s)
one at a time and jump them from the battery one at a time. If they work ok if not replace the one that doesn't work.
Next find the coolant temperature sensor check it for resistance , wiring ,and to see if its signal is making it to the ECU. Then check if the ECU is telling the relays to turn on the appropriate fan. Remember one fan is for engine cooling the other is for the condenser of the a/c system. If you turn on a/c it should work.
Use shop manual for more detail testing and specs. I'll help you any way I can. Good luck

That just recently happened to me. If your stick wont move into any of the gears, then you need a clutch. But if you can shift into the gears but dont go anywhere, then you need a new transmission.

I guess the clutch system must be a hydraulic one, check the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder if they are functioning.
If they are thn theres a problem with the clutch pressure plate, if thts so , you will have to drop the gear box to replace it and its adviseable to replac e the pro-kit...consisting of Clutch pressure plate, clutch plate and release bearing.

those trucks had problems with the fire wall breaking .have some one push the clutch pedle and watch the fire wall from under the hood were the clutch master cylinder bolts too if the fire wall moves u need to buy the repaire kit from ford.

That car has a hydraulic actuated clutch so it could just be low on clutch fluid or one of the pipes going from the pedal to the clutch could be burst.
