Some of those models had a MAP Sensor and some didn't.The mazda and the Ford ranger are the exact same truck with the exception of the grill and tail lights. I am not sure if your saying that you have a map sensor and no wire or a wire and not map sensor. If there is no wire for a map sensor then you truck does not require one. If it has the wire then you will have to get a map sensor. The trucks that don't have a map sensor will have a Mass Air Flow Sensor, located at the top of the air filter box.
I hope this will help you.

this an alien engine swap act? then lost the old engine and due to lost of it the original MAP was lost?
you bought the wrong parts
is this USA spec, car, sold here or what/?
The MAP sensor is very important and must not be hacked.
so the engine was down graded 2 years

I have a 2003 Dodge Caravan and recently my van hesitates and bucks and stalled while I was pushing on the gas. What could the issue be?

This generation of Caravans had a problem with the fuel injection wiring harness.
The problem is excessive heating of the harness and the poor quality of the insulation on the individual wires located within the harness. The spot to check is located where the engine FI harness plugs into the body fi harness just behind and below the ign. coil.
It is located near the exhaust crossover and once repaired should be relocated.
Examining the harness will not revel the deteriorated wires located within the harness. You must cut open the outer harness covering on the engine side of the connector to see the wires and make the repairs.
Sometime you can re-insulate the individual wires with tape but it's best to replace the engine FI harness and it's not hard to do.
Ebay sells the harness for about 125/150 bucks.

Map sensor location

Don't know what kind of car this is, but if it's got a MAF sensor, or an Air Flow Meter sensor, then there is no map sensor. Only one or the other.
Black smoke, eh? Sounds like you're on the right track.

1995 chrysler new yorker starts fine and idles fine. When I put in gear and take off it bogs down and stalls. Could this be a fuel pressure regulator.

More likely the MAP sensor. A new sensor is $65, so I recommend you test it to see if it's bad. Test procedures are pasted below. Please let me know if it passes the tests or if you have any questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

OPERATIONThe PCM supplies 5 volts to the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor. The MAP sensor converts what it reads as the amount of intake manifold pressure into a return signal. The PCM monitors the MAP sensor output voltage. As vacuum increases in the intake manifold, the MAP sensor voltage decreases proportionately. Also, as vacuum decreases, the MAP sensor voltage increases proportionately.
During engine cranking, before the engine starts running, the PCM determines atmospheric air pressure from the MAP sensor voltage. While the engine operates, the PCM determines the intake manifold pressure from the MAP sensor voltage.
Based on MAP sensor voltage and inputs from other sensors, the PCM adjusts spark advance and the air/fuel mixture.

Before testing any electrical component, inspect the wiring and connectors for damage. Also wiggle the connectors to ensure a that they are firmly engaged. When testing the sensor, use a high input impedance digital volt-ohmmeter. Insert the tester leads through the back of the connector. Do not disconnect the electrical harness.

  1. Inspect the vacuum hose connections at the sensor and throttle body. Repair or replace the hoses, if any hoses are cracking or vacuum is leaking.

For the following step, do not unplug the sensor connector-it must stay plugged in.
  1. Make sure that the sensor wiring connector is fully inserted into the sensor (loose connections can create trouble codes). Check the MAP sensor output voltage by inserting the negative lead of a voltmeter into the back of terminal 2 and the positive test leads through the back of the harness connector terminal 3 (as marked on the sensor body). Refer to the accompanying wiring illustration. With the ignition switch in the ON position and the engine OFF , the output voltage should be 4-5 volts.
  2. Start the engine and allow to idle at normal operating temperature. The output voltage should drop to 1.5-2.1 volts.
  3. Test the PCM terminal 36 (1993-95 models), and terminal 1 (1996-97 models) for the same voltage described above to verify the wire harness condition. Repair the wiring harness if the voltage is not the same.
  4. Test the MAP sensor supply voltage at the sensor connection terminal 2 and 1 with the ignition ON . The voltage should be 5 volts. Check the supply voltage at terminal 61 of the PCM. This should also be 5 volts.
  5. Using an ohmmeter, test the MAP sensor ground circuit at the sensor connection terminal 1 and at the PCM terminal 43 (1993-95 models), terminal 4 (1996-97 models). Repair the wire harness for an open circuit if infinite resistance is detected.
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Fig. Fig. 6: On the 3.5L engine, the MAP sensor is threaded into the left side of the intake manifold plenum

The MAP sensor is located in the rear of the intake manifold plenum on the 3.3L engine. On the 3.5L engine, the MAP sensor is threaded into the left side of the intake manifold plenum.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Unplug the electrical connector from the sensor.
  3. Remove the MAP sensor mounting screws.
  4. Remove the sensor from the vehicle.

To install:
  1. Install the MAP sensor into its position and secure in place with the mounting screws. Tighten the screws to 90 inch lbs. (10 Nm), then rotate it to a horizontal position.
  2. Plug the electrical connector back into the sensor. Make certain that the connector is clean and snug fitting.
  3. Connect the negative battery cable.

I purchased a 1994 Cherokee Larado with a 4.0 6 in it that had been sitting for about two years un started. Animals had nibbled on wiring in various places including fuel lines, crank position sensor and...

Unless you are really lucky I don't think you will meet your deadline. One wire out of place or dis-connected can cause all kinds of problems. I'd begin by checking every fuse in the vehicle, especially those in the power distribution center. Often if a sensor is shorted one of those fuses will fail.
Your next project is to get a good wiring diagram (chilton is best for that) and beginning at the computer main harness connectors, you will need to test each wire by using an ohmmeter, (battery disconnected) testing continuity between each connector pin and writing down each sensor connector pin location that shows continuity for that pin, then comparing it to the book diagram.By doing that, you will develop a complete picture of where each important wire in the harness goes. I'd do a visual inspection of the harnesses first (I know you did that) making sure the O2 sensor harnesses are intact.
Since you have a new MAP sensor, put it on. Also, remove the idle control motor next to the throttle position sensor and clean the passage going to it and the control plunger. Don't turn the plunger and don't loose the small "o" ring though.
Default for the fuel regulator is full open and that generally will cause the engine to run rough with black exhaust (very rich mixture) If you don't see that it's probably OK.
I have only one sendable diagram...http://www.scribd.com/doc/18999822/Jeep-Wiring-2 That may help you a bit.

Have a 97 dodge 318 plugs flood as soo as you try

check your coolant temp sensor. possible map sensor.
The MAP sensor is fitted to the front of the throttle body except on 4.7L and 8.0L engines where it is installed on the intake manifold.
  1. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
  2. On throttle-body mounted MAP sensors, inspect the L-shaped tube from the throttle body to the MAP for cracks, blockage, and damage. Repair as necessary.
  3. Unplug the MAP sensor connector.
  4. Test the MAP sensor output voltage at the MAP sensor connector between terminals "sensor ground" and "sensor signal". With ignition ON and the engine OFF , the voltage should be between 4-5 volts.
  5. Check voltage across the same terminals with the engine running at idle at operating temperature. Voltage should be 1.5-2.1 volts.
  6. Test MAP sensor supply voltage at sensor connector between terminals "sensor ground" and "5v supply" with the ignition ON and engine off, voltage should be 4.5-5.0 volts.
  7. Test the MAP sensor ground circuit at the "sensor ground" of the MAP connector, voltage should be less than 0.2 volts. If not inspect for open harness from pin 4 of PCM harness and terminal A . If no voltage is present, proceed to the next step.
  8. Turn the ignition OFF .
  9. Disconnect the PCM harness from the PCM.

WARNING Testing the wiring harness with the PCM still connected can cause serious damage to the processor. ALWAYS disconnect the PCM before testing the wiring harness, unless instructed otherwise.

  1. Test the MAP sensor output voltage at the PCM connector. At the PCM cavity A-27 , the voltage should be about 5.0 volts.
  2. Check the voltage at PCM cavity A-17 . It should be 5.0 volts.
  3. If all of the above tests pass, plug in PCM wiring harness and MAP sensor connector.
  4. With the ignition in the ON position, and the engine OFF , remove the tube from the throttle body to the MAP sensor.
  5. Connect a vacuum pump to the nipple on the MAP sensor, and pump the sensor to 20-27 in. Hg. Check the sensor output voltage, it should be below 1.8 volts. If not, replace the MAP sensor. If the voltage is OK, proceed to next step.
  6. Relieve vacuum pressure on the sensor, then check the output voltage. The voltage should be 4-5 volts; if not, replace the MAP sensor.
  7. Install the air cleaner assembly.

Where is the map sensor located? 1994 jeep grand cherokee

Go half way between the air cleaner box and the "carburetor". Up the 4" black air pipe, a wire harness plug plugs into the MAP sensor there. Also called MAS air flow sensor.
