I own a 1995 mercedes SL500 and recently started having trouble with the left front door window. While stopped in a construction zone, I rolled both windows down. After leaving the construction area, I rolled the windows back up and on my next stop the left front window did not roll down automatically before getting out of the vehicle. The window would not operate at all. I check the fuse and found it to be blown and upon replacing it got the window to operate again. Everything seems to work fine except now the top does not want to release from the header. The rear of the top releases and the storage lid goes up, but the top will not release from the header. Is the header release mechanisms controlled by electrical or by hydralics? Any suggestions or solutions?

I HAVE A 1995 MB SL 500 My problem is that the windows,top & roll bar will not function at all. the switch for the top blinks steady while the roll bar switch stay lite up. I am at a loss of thought on what I can due to solve the problem........ sigh

The window position is monitered by the softop control module. It sounds like the glass is very dirty and drawing too much amperage during window operation. The soft top is electro hydraulic. The roll bar is operated normally with hydraulics but it is mechanically released in an emergency situation. 1st make sure your windows are clean and the express(one touch operation) is working-the soft top will not function properly if the windows are not synchronized. Next be sure your roll bar works-hold swith in up position to lock roll bar rams in if they have been deployed. next put your top all the way up. untill windows roll up and try it with the engine running and trans in nuetral- if it still does not work mechanically secre rear of top with tool provided in your tool kit the owner's manual will tell you how to do this. good luck
