Bmw98 e36 P1423

p1423 look like a lot of works.remove upper engine cover and inspect for damage to vacuum lines. just go to yahoo and type vw p1423 code alldat

p1423 refers to secondary air injection system --insufficient flow detected causes hose connections---air valve--air pump
p1421 refers to secondary air injection system bank 2 insufficient flow detected. causes-- hose connections---air valve---air pump.

420 is catalyic conventer below treshold- (not hot enough_ most likely melted inside)
p1423- bank 1 low air inject- open line or bad air pump

code p1423 secondary air injection air system bank 1 insuffient flow detected.

P1411 = Secondary air injection system, bank 2 - insufficient flow detected.
Probable cause: Intake leak, hose(s) blocked / leaking, secondary air system valve / solenoid.

P1423 = Secondary air injection system, bank 1 - insufficient flow detected.
Probable cause: Intake leak, hose(s) blocked / leaking, secondary air system valve / solenoid.

its an air flow related code. possibly a cracked hose.

undo mass air flow sensor start moter multiple times if it starts to run fairly normal drive it and see if it comes together then if it does then by a mass air flow light may come on during this but no harm will go out eventually after new piece installed

check for a wet ecu

the ecu compartment is under the windshield on the passenger side on E36

you gain acess to it under the hood....
this compartment gets wet, the ecu lays on a flat surface in that
compartment.

the bottom side of the circuit board gets wet and starts corrosion.

remove the ecu, take the bottom plate off, clean the bottom of the circuit
board with alcohol and a soft tooth brush.

you should be able to see the signs of corrosion or conductive build up.

this gunk bridges solder points doing all sort s of wierd things to your
car, including false sensor readings from asc/abs controllers and other
sensors....

all the way to engine failure and worst case burnt and shorted wiring
harness.

I'm on my 3rd ecu, took me and the repair boys a few years to figure this
one out.

BTW: i would get that ecu mounted above that flat surface, use some sort
of standoff to raise it so that it is not laying in the wet.

p1423 Secondary Air Injection Bank 1 flow too low

P0431 Warm Up Catalyst, Bank 2 Efficiency Below Threshold/Limit

P1411 Secondary air injection fault, this is related to the P1423.

code P1423 for a BMW is secondary airflow sytem bank 1, consult your repair manual and you can go from there. I am not up on imports to be honest but I was able to find out what the code means for you. hope it helps.
