The new antenna is not properly grounded, or the power antenna is not a powered one. The radio uses it to ground, or the radio and light circuit needs alternate ground.
Radios not only need power but antennas. Check the antenna connection into the back of the radio and at the mast. If the rod antenna is loose it could be intermittent. It could also be the bottom clamp that attaches to the sheet metal of the car...if it is corroded or loose the same...
Sounds like a ground problem. Pull radio check connections on rear if radio and make sure antenna lead is tight. Antenna lead is where radio gets ground (lead is thick round cable)
There has to be a lead on radio unless it is totally wireless. Either with a plugin or electrical junction. trace down antenna wire to backside of radio it is there or remote via wire
this is a computer problem. 91-96 lexus ls400 are known for having their computers go out on them. I would have never believed it but my ls400 did the same thing. I sent the computer to Auto Computer Exchange in Davie FL. They reprogramed it for $310 sent it back to me in a day. It fixed the car. I have had no problems out of the car. I now work on ls400 on the side to fix the same problem for other people.
The gears are going out in the motor. If the antenna goes up and down, then the gears have corrosion. If it does not move....then the gears are toasted or the antenna cable inside the housing is broken.
