SOURCE: Cannot disengage overdrive on 2003 Ford F150 4.2L

Check the Fuse for the OD function, this is cab fuse panel fuse #29, 5A.
If This fuse is blown, chances are the wires at the end of the shift lever are chaffed and causing the problem. This happens some times ( can't say why ), but it is simple enough to check and repair the wires if the insulation is chaffed.

SOURCE: thermostat replacement 2003 ford focus se, with 2.0, 16 valve ztech engine

Follow the upper radiator hose to where it attaches to a housing (2bolts hold the housing in place) remove the hose clamp here and then remove the housing bolts, inside the housing is your thermostat. Clean off the surface of the housing, and where it attaches to the engine. Install the thermostat, and a new gasket (or O -ring ), carefully replace the housing, being sure the thermostat doesn't slip out of position, tighten the housing bolts, reattach the radiator hose to the housing, add coolant to proper level, check for leaks, u r good to go! Make sure the thermostat is installed in the right direction, if put in backwards the car will overheat. countrycurt0

SOURCE: my 2003 ford focus SE shuts off

Here are the most common causes of surges, stalls at stops, low erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake

Common fault on FORD

Usually due to a poor connection in the YELLOW PLASTIC CONNECTOR underneath the passenger seat.

Just push it together properly and it should clear the AirBag fault

It's a problem inside the transmission. Could be as easy as a fluid and filter change. Could be the solenoid package.

What fuse controls the dash lights on a 2003 ford focus se

That would be the dash lamp fuse! No, just kidding. If they are not labelled, just pull one at a time (key off) and check each to see which is blown. East peasey.

Does overdrive effect the gas usage in a 2003 Ford Focus

Yes. Overdrive helps get better milage in all vehicles. It is simply put, just an extra gear. When you go through 1st, then 2nd, 3rd, then OD (in automatic - 5th gear in manual)

All it does is allow the engine to run at lower speed while maintaining crusing speed. It does not have a lot of power, it's notsupposed to. It is to save fuel at higher speeds, particularly over distance travel..

In city driving it can slow the changing of gears. Better to turn it off for more low speed control.

2003 ford focus... possible transmission problem.. or electrical?

Overdrive is a lock up within the transmission. The other "gears" are fluid and belt driven. So, could be that the sensor that allows the overdrive to "lock" is dirty/faulty. A transmission shop should be able to tell you in a heart beat.

I have a 2003 ford focus SE. I am having problems

In my opinion it sounds like a problem from inside the fuel tank but don't quote me on this. With multiple sensors and switches related to fuel movement throughout the vehicle you're truly better off having a professional deal with this, unfortunately it will cost a few dollars.
