Check to see if your emergency brake is partially on. Also the abs light goes on when the sensors on the hubs get corroded from salt. They either need to be cleaned or replaced. Mine are on from corrosion from road salt so rather than pay the hefty fee to fix the issue until I can do it myself I just pulled the fuse for ABS in my panel to shut that system off. Perfectly safe to drive without them and not an inspection requirement. Now your abs is probably going on every time you apply the brakes and that is not a good thing!

Bad sensor in one wheel, they are part of the wheel bearing. Could also be a bad abs computer module, either way, not cheap.

SOURCE: abs light

This is a (4) four wheel sensor system and more than likely one of them has failed. This will cause ABS module to turn on warning lamp and make the brake pedal 'act up' under the right conditions. This 'acting up' is the ABS system getting a false signal that a wheel is not turning the same as the others when it actually is. Have it scanned for codes and a streaming data scan on a road test under the same conditions that you are experiencing the 'act up' to pinpoint the fault. Hope this helps! Please rate me.

SOURCE: my abs light is always on and now my brake warning light is on but brakes seem to be working fine

The ABS light is a warning that you have an issue with the ABS system. The red brake warning lamp is serious. It is telling you that there is an issue with the base brakes. Your car will be ok with an ABS light, but the red warning lamp could be really dangerous. You should have them checked ASAP. It could be from many causes. A park brake switch, low fluid, the causes are too numerous to list. Please for your safty have it checked. Good Luck

SOURCE: 1999 Chevy Tahoe- Soft Brake Pedal

Try having the dealer flush and bleed your system. It is very hard to bleed ABS systems yourself and have safe brakes that still work afterward. Bleeding non-ABS brakes yourself is easy not the same for ABS brakes. Valving, sensors and what-not require a tech and the correct equipment in my opinion. You do it wrong and you could ruin your ABS system. Do that and see if they firm up. I replaced my brake shoes/pads at the same time all new everything in back, drums/springs everything and new rotors up front. then I had the chevy dealer flush, refill and bleed system. Stiffer pedal and brakes work better. Keep in mind the brakes on 99 Tahoes are inaedequate, require new rotors often, heat up and fade/glaze pads regularly. I replace my pads long before they wear down because they glaze up and start fading early. I'll rough em up once maybe, next time, new ones. Every two brake jobs, new rotors for me. Just how it is. They will stiffen a bit and work better but they will never be awesome brakes. Just how it is on 99 and earlier Tahoes. Hope it helps. Very important to bleed correctly though. I'll bleed my 83 Toyota 4x4 myself but not the Tahoe.

My abs light on my 2000 buick lesabre will not shut off i have replaced rotors and pads what could the problem be

The warning light indicates that there is a malfuction in the anti-lock Brake System (ABS). Normally the system will then cease to function so you have a conventional braking system with no anti-lock feature to engage if you lock up the wheels on braking.

This ABS fault warning has nothing to do with the condition of the pads and rotors so renewing them, which is essential for good braking performance, will not solve the problem.

You will need to take the vehicle to a mechanic with the correct equipment to diagnose the cause of the ABS warning. It may be as simple as a failed ABS sensor (or sensors) and that is what I would be checking first.

It is quite safe to drive the vehicle with the ABS disengaged because your brakes will operate normally. What you don't have is the ABS kicking in to release the brake pressure temporarily in the event you brake hard and lock up any of the wheels.

My DSC and Brake warning lamps continuously light up in yellow once the engine has warmed up. They remain on after driving for a while and sometimes they shut off. Any ideas?

Check to see if your brake pads and rotors are in good condition. Or if you have replaced the pads yourself and have not reset the wheel sensors this would cause the ABS Antilock Brake System light and the ASC Automatic Stability Control light to stay on as the ASC uses the ABS brakes with computer assistance to control the car

Abs light on

if you know the code for the radio... unhook the battery for about ten minutes to reset the abs warning.... if it comes back on after that there may be another issue.... but make sure you have the code for the radio or it will become unusable.
