Why do I keep getting current to this

I recently Replaced the Engine on a 97 Chevy PU I was getting it to turn over but not crank, I checked the grounds and I was getting current to them. Upon disconnecting a ground from the block I got the other wires to ground. but I am still getting current to that one ground. Please Help could this be causing it to not crank In addition I have already replaced the module, and several other ignition part am, breaking my head about this one. I have also checked another Truck Same Make and model and this wire seems to belong grounded to the block. Please Help

Would the ground that is getting power be the one that runs from the engine to the body?

97 chevy lumina won't turn over but lights work. Makes a click sound and thats it.

You need a new battery-
It takes a great deal more power to crank a motor than it does to light up the lights. This is why your lights still come on even though the battery does not have enough power crank the engine over. If you install a new battery keep an eye on it...if it dies quickly then you have a bad alternator.

thats usually a sign of a vacuum leak, recheck and make sure you don't have any loose hoses, or cut intake seals

I have a '97 Chevy 1/2 ton 4x4 PU. Very good

Sounds like a loose connection, Clean the fuse contacts. Sometimes lubricant and dirt gets on the contacts within the switch itself and this will interfere with power supply. Have you checked the wiper relay corrosion and wear on the relay contacts impair electrical connection. Brighten up contacts with fine sand paper and if the relay contacts are suspect, remove the cover and draw folded sand paper between the contacts until clean.

Car starts and cuts out after 2 to 3 seconds. fuel

When the ignition switch is turned on the pcm turns on the fuel pump by energizing the fuel pump relay. The PCM keeps the fuel pump on as long as the engine is cranking over or running. It does this by recieving pulses from the ignition module. If there are no referance pulses the PCM will turn the fuel pump relay off in 2 seconds with the ingnition on.

Most models also include a secondary control path through the oil presure switch witch will turn the fuel pump on after it detects oil presure.cranking time will be longer if the fuel pump doesn't recieve current until oil presure switch contact is closed.
