Need to locate fuel filter on 1989 mercedes benz 300e

Under the airfilter assembly and part of the Fuel distributator.
rarley the problem usually a vacuum related issue in mercedes 124s.
see my other post on 300E rough Idle. THis care uses a hybrid bosch mechanical electronic fuel delivery system. easy to diagnose and assumptions are usually wrong. try w124zone for basic information.

Fuel filter,fuel pump or regulator are possible causes. don-ohio

A Mercedes benz dealer in parts and service should be able to order a manel for you if not,try Auto Zone they have the chelton books that show how to for Mercedes.

Not sure of what your issue is buy fuel filter is by the fuel pumps under the car rear passenger area under a plastic cover. Some combination wrenches and a good way to stop the flow of gas from both ways and you just swap it out.

i would replace both because they are only good as the bad one

that particular model has an external fuel pump
is located underneath and if you take the rear driver side wheel you will get to it easier but not if you are going to replace you fuel pump replace the fuel filter also or otherwise the new pump will not last.
and have a large container handy because wend you take the fuel pump off. you will spill a large amount of gas .
the tube going from the pump to the gas tank in on the bottom of the tank and will spill all the gas in it unless you move quickly.

There is an in tank fuel screen where the fuel feed line screws into the bottom of the fuel tank. The is also a convertional fuel filter which is located just in front of the rear wheel on left or right side depending on model. I have a wagon and mine is on the right side. There is a plastic panel that you need to remove with a 10mm socket and a long extention. There are three screws to remove before you can get to the fuel pump/fuel filter area.

yes,that original set-up of mb,reason behind that,one pump working 100 percent to attain fuel press.while two pump working only 50 percent each,long use of two pump
