Theft system passlock on 2003 chevy malibu. theft

Take the ignition switch out, and look to see if the contacts are discolored. If so, shine them up with some fine steel wool. Then it should work fine. Gm products are known for this! God-Bless you and your family! The contacts are where the wires are connected. This is for an impala but it should work on all GM vehicles.

it could be the passlock system ( anti theft system ). heres how to find out. all gm vehicles from 97-2005 contain an anti theft system called the passlock. on chevy malibu turn key on, let it stay on for 10 to 15 minutes. then turn ignition off, take out key from ignition, after 1 minute start the car. thats if its whats wrong. if this is your problem you can disable system for good ! go to www.tubesound.com/passlocksystem hope this helps,

I have the same problem on my 2001 malibu. Do a google search for 2001 Malibu Passlock malfunction. You have to have the passlock system replaced, although I've seen many forums where people have had it replaced only to have it malfunction again because Chevy never made a new passlock that does not malfunction for older Malibus. Also, if you get a remote car starter I've heard this will disable the passlock therefore removing the issue of it malfunctioning so you would not have to worry about it not starting.

On a 2003 Chevy Maibu the theft system light comes on and blinks when the system is triggered. The car will not start and the fuel pump cuts out. You must turn key to on and have all doors closed. Keep the key to on for 10 mins til theft light turns solid and then disappears. Then turn key to start and it should fire up.

Only if theft light is flashing, then it would need to be reset, to reset turn key to on and wait till theft light stops flashing about 10mim or so, then turn key to off and back to start engine.

you can easily bypass the security system entirely. There is a great write-up here http://newrockies.ca . That was the only solution that saved my Park Avenue.

the only way to get by this is to install a remote starter had the same problem with my grand am it worked no more problem.
