Do you have the ariginal key,if not check and see if the key has a battery. Change it if it does.if not you need a new key made ,one without a battery. Oh no fuse for the alarm,

SOURCE: 1988 ford ranger removed after market car alarm, truck not startin

If I understand you correctly your vehicle will still start but bogs down...If this is the case have the catalytic converter checked if it is plugged this would cause the same conditions as you described.....

SOURCE: there is a non-factory anti-theft device keeping my truck from starting. How do i remove it

I would before you do that call a few places that install after market alarms---cutting may not solve the issue and could just make things worse--see if you can locate the unit (brand on the remote??) for a brand or model number.

Cutting without knowing may be foolish.

My 2000 Mercury cougar anti-theft system won't allow me to start engine. There is a anti-theft light on. With or without remote keyless entry. Mikey does come with a transmitter

Disconnect the battery cables and wait 5 minutes then reconnect them if your alarm sounds use your key fob to stop it then you should be okay also the key you have maybe has a battery in it and it's dead if it was an aftermarket key programmed at Lowe's or home depot look at the key if you see little tabs on the bottom there's a battery in there

Need reset security does not have keyless entry

THIS WORKS ONLY ON FACTORY SYSTEM ONLY NOT AFTER MARKET OR DEARLER INSTALLED SYSTEM
. Find the RED / GREEN (-) wire located in the "25 PIN" Plug at the Driver Kick Panel / Door Harness.
Ground the RED / GREEN (-) wire.
This will DisArm the Factory Alarm until the Ground is removed.
OR
You can try (does not always work):
Be sure battery is fully charged
Disconnect Negative Battery Cable
Open Driver Door & LEAVE Open
Turn Ignition Switch ON & LEAVE On
Reconnect Negative Battery Cable
Alarm may sound for a few seconds
Start vehicle

Battery terminals were removed to clean, when reconnected the battery,my anti theft alarm has disabled the ability to start it

Raise the hood and use the battery terminal wrench, or a standard box wrench, to remove the negative battery cable. Wait 15 minutes before reconnecting the cable, then repeat Step 1. If your Mountaineer still will not start, and the flashing red light begins blinking rapidly when you attempt to start it, something is obviously malfunctioning. Either have the key reprogrammed or have more extensive troubleshooting and repairs done to the P.A.T.S. system by a certified technician.

Try this. disconnect car battery - both cables - leave disconnect for 5 minutes. this should remove old codes. Reconnect and retry.

I have a 05 hyundai sonata. I put a new battery in now the alarm goes off and I don't have a remote. Car wont start

If it is an after market alarm you should be able to remove the in-line fuse from the power line to the alarm and solve the problem. Since you don't have the remote this was a problem anyway since if the alarm was triggered it would leave you stranded. It sounds like the starter kill switch is engaging. The key in the ignition should reset the alarm but sometimes they don't. You can try disconnecting the Positive cable from the battery and grounding it for 30 sec then reconnect it if the alarm is built in by the factory.

Ignition key and alarm problems: starting

Doesn't by opening the hood, that will disarm the alert system? Is it factory installed system? Try removing the fuse for the alarm system (near the system box - probably around the brake light switch). There must be a crossed wire somewhere.

2001 mercury cougar can't get car to start alarm light lit and steady what do I do

sounds like your alarm is preventing the car from starting.

you can disconnect your negative battery cable, and wait about 10 minutes. put the key in the ignition and turn it to the ON position, but NOT to the START position. reconnet the battery cable CAREFULLY with the key ON, and the driver's side door OPEN. your alarm should "chirp" a few times, while reconnecting the battery. afterwards, try to start the car when the battery is tightly connected.

if the car still refuses to start, use the "panic" feature on your remote, to intentionally set off your alarm, and then turn it back off, to make sure it stops properly.

if this does not work, remove the fuse for your alarm, and try to start the car again without the fuse in place.....otherwise replace the fise and remove the pwoer connector from your alarm.

your actual alarm should be behind the trim plate, on the bottom side of your dash, above your gas and brake pedals....then try to start the car AGAIN....

if none of this works, then your alarm is defective and needs to be serviced be the installer, or manufacturer. also, calling the manufacturer will help too, as they have "reset and disable" features that can literally "bypass" your alarm.

Won't start after cleaning battery terminals

Sounds like you have an aftermarket alarm with starter disable. By disconnecting the battery the alarm reset and the defualt setting is usually to set the alarm automatically (active arming). You have three options..
A. If you have the key fob that went with the alarm you can disarm the alarm.
B. If no key fob is available you can disconnect the battery again, turn the ignition key to the on position and reconnect the battery. This usually doesn't allow the alarm to set and allows the car to start.
C. Remove the aftermarket alarm system. This is usually the long term fix i recommend if the fob isn't available. Option B should get you going though.

Security lights flashing after battery cable removal-no start

Anytime you disconnect and reconnect your battery, the factory alarm will arm upon reconnection and the truck will not start. You have to close your doors, then manually lock and unlock the door with your key. This should turn off the security system and you should be able to start the truck.
