2002 Impala rear struts

I called a parts store about rear struts of my car and they said something about a notice or sticker about the struts that's located on the inside of the drivers door or is sometimes inside the glove box that gives some information about the struts. Does anyone know about this? Thankyou for any help.

SOURCE: 97 nissan altime

If you have an AUTO a/c setup, than yes there is an amplifier mounted into the air box along with the blower motor resistor. This system has mode door inside the air box , but I don't think that's your problem, because your compressor is not coming on right?? Explain to me one more time, what is exactly is happening w/ the A/C. Be specific. Let me know what year this is also. I have seen the wire that goes into the compressor brake right at the compressor, that is if your Altima is pre 1998. Let me know.

SOURCE: DOOR WON'T OPEN FROM INSIDE OF NISSAN ALTIMA 2002 ON DRIVER'S SIDE

There is a cable that attaches to the inside door latch release handle. The plastic that retains this cable is most likely broken. I have seen this before. If the retainer is not holding the cable sheath correctly, the entire cable moves when the handle is pulled and does not release the door latch.

Remove the door panel and inspect this cable. You will see 2 cables (one is for the door lock). If the plastic is broken, you will need a new interior handle assembly.

Hope this is helpful!!

SOURCE: need replacement latch glove box?

Junk yard will be the cheapest.

I don't think you'll be able to get it through an auto part store because most of these parts are not universally designed. All manufacturers make slight variations so it's hard to find an exact part.

The dealership will definitely have this part, but the price may or may not be pricey.

SOURCE: looking to change the fan resistor it is located

Yes. It may have 4 or 5 wires on it and 2 screws. Should be located there above the passengers feet area.

SOURCE: I lost the key to my car I am trying to figure out

It's not in the car. Sometime the dealer can look it up with the VIN number but that usually doesn't work. Usually you have to change the lock cylinders or remove them and have a locksmith make keys.

Are the rear strut mounts for kq laser the same. Or is the left different to the fight side?

I just replaced both struts on my BA Falcon. They were the same on both sides. If you are in Perth, try Strut Specialists in Osborne Park. They were by far the cheapest. The price of struts vary considerably between stores. Have a look if there is a pressure rating sticker on the strut. If you get the wrong ones, the door will either keep falling down or it will fly open when its unlocked.

The gate opens only halfway what is wrong

Hi,
Please explain....which 'gate' the one w/the spare tire or the rear hatch or something else? If the rear hatch is the issue it's likely the rear strut supports that hold up the hatch are worn out. They can be bought from local auto parts stores...look on Youtube on how to replace them.

Rear wheel bearings

Get a different shop to check all of the suspension components - if the struts both snapped, something is going on that's a much bigger concern than the wheel bearings. Look for bent control arms and other suspension components - check clearances and bushings everywhere in the rear, make sure nothing was installed backwards or forgotten. Struts don't just snap, and bearings should definitely not die every couple thousand miles. Also, have a dealer look at it, to make sure that things are installed properly. It won't be cheap there, but they might notice something that other shops routinely miss. I hate suggesting that ANYONE go to a dealership for service, but in this case, they're the most likely to notice something out of spec...

Rear door won't stay up,don't know if they are shocks or called something else

What you are describing are the gas charged lift supports or struts that are on most cars nowdays. You can purchase these from your local auto parts store or online from sites such as jcwhitney.com
The struts are an easy do-it-yourself job. Struts can cost anywhere from $12.00 to 50.00 each depending on the vehicle.

When i turn my rear defroster on in my 2002 impala my radio just cuts out and gets nothin but static. ive tried adjusting the antenna which way it faces and everytrhing but it continues to not work. any...

I believe there is an antenna coil located behind one of the 1/4 sail trim panels. I ran across this when I had to put a strut in my 1999 LeSabre. Back seat, sail trim and package shelf had to be removed to access upper strut mount. Mine was behind the left sail trim. Removing the sail trim I knocked the cover off so I asked my GM parts guy what it was. It was radio related. I believe the back defogger grid is the radio antenna. It was around $18.00. I would check that as my son's 2002 Impala rear defog is inop and that's one of the things I will be checking. Good luck.

My 2002 toyota avalon has a noise in the rear of the car, it sounds like something is hitting to under side of the car when i go over a bump in the road at slow speeds. i have tried to see if the exhaust...

Hello. Welcome to FIxYa.

Your noise is most likely worn out 'rear strut support mounts'.

On top of the rear struts, there is a metal plate that locates the top of the strut to the body, Inside this plate is a centering device that holds the top of the strut vertically secure. As the mount wears, the strut is no longer vertically secure, and allow the tip if the strut to hit the inside edge of the metal plate.

We change these parts quite often, this is a very common occurance, and is easily rectified.

What you will need to do: Have a qualified technican remove the rear strut assemblies, disassemble them, and replace the top support mounts.

We do not recommend that you try this yourself, if you do not have the required experience, and the necessary tool (a strut coil-spring compresser). If you try to remove the coil spring from the strut assembly without the proper tools, you could very well injure yourself. The coil spring is under a significent amount of tension.

This is a job best left to a professional machanic who has the proper tools.

I need to replace the front struts. Is it the same as replacing shocks?

Hello duaine.
No, the procedures are quite different.
The struts on your impala incorporate the coil spring and an upper mount.
The strut is removed as an assembly of these items.
Then the spring needs to be safely compressed by a tool designed for this, the nut taken off the end of the strut, the spring pressure released and then can be taken apart.
You can now buy complete assembly's at some parts suppliers but they tend to be more costly than simply replacing what you need repaired.
If you have any more details you would like to know, leave them in "add comments" and I will answer you.

2008 Impala wearing rear tires poorly. I understand this is due to not being able to perform canber adjustment due to type of struts used. Is this correct and can this be solved?

check your rear suspension very carefully, something may be bent. all adjustments should be able to be made otherwise GM would not publish alignment specs
