What causes an engine to stall at idle?
If the engine stalls while idling or driving, the engine may be running out of fuel or not receiving enough fuel pressure to keep it running. The most likely cause of this kind of stalling would be a fuel pump that is not spinning fast enough or is intermittently cutting out.

could be a weak fuel pump or regulator fault (fuel) faulty relay pump/injection ether one. idle valve sticking. these will all need to be checked.

Could have an intake manifold vacuum leak , classic sign ! When it warm's up the gaskets expands and it doesn't leak again till cold .

throttle position sensor is most likely bad. idle should even out if you unplug the TPS. if it does then replace the TPS

You should not reset the ck eng light until you have repaired the problem. Its just going to come on again, unhooking the battery MAY reset it. To reset the change oil light, turn the key on and floor the gas pedal 3 times, that should reset the light.

Check the fuel filter, it might be clogged.

When you remove your thermostat check the number stamped on the thermostat. In cold weather you want a high number and opposite cold weather. Right back with number
