They talk about cranking the engine enough to get the oil up before the fuel pump sends fuel, It didn't say anything about 2 oil sensors, but there is quite a bit of complaining about the electricals. Hope this helps.

How to timing a 89 chevy 350

With a warm engine and timing light ready (engine running) disconnect the single connector (black and brown wire) located on the passenger side firewall. It sticks out of the main wiring harness. Set the timing by rotating the distributor. Clockwise to ****** the timing and counter clockwise to advance the timing. Lock the distributor in place @ 4 deg. before top dead center. Shut the truck off and reconnect the black and brown wire.

My distributor wasnt marked on my 1989 chevy 5.7 p/u when it got pulled off. so how do i reinstall it with no marks to line it up with? the number one cylinder is at tdc. i droped the distributor in with...

That's the way to do it. Your firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 and it rotates in a clockwise rotation. I went on and gave you a picture of the cylinder locations and the number one on the cap is marked as well. I hope this helps and good luck.

I had to replace the distributor on my 96 Chevy K1500. I was careful in marking location and getting the new distributor back in the same location. The new distributor location (timing) may/is off slightly...

Distributor Installation
Just to add, I don't believe your timing is adjustable.

Bring cylinder number one piston to Top Dead Center (TDC) of compression stroke.

Remove the distributor cap bolts and discard.Remove the distributor cap.

Install a NEW distributor gasket onto the distributor.

Align the indent hole on the driven gear with the paint mark on the distributor housing.Ensure that the distributor rotor segment points to the cap hold area.

Align the slotted tang in the oil pump driveshaft with the distributor driveshaft. Rotate the oil pump driveshaft with a screwdriver if necessary.Align the flat (1) in the distributor housing toward the front of the engine.Install the distributor and distributor clamp.

Once the distributor is fully seated, align the distributor rotor segment with the number 8 pointer that is cast into the distributor base. If the distributor rotor segment does not come within a few degrees of the number 8 pointer, the gear mesh between the distributor and camshaft may be off a tooth or more. Repeat the procedure in order to achieve proper alignment.

Caution!Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Install the distributor clamp bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the distributor clamp bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

Install the distributor cap onto the distributor.Install the NEW distributor cap bolts. Do not overtighten the NEW distributor cap bolts.

Where is the # 1 plug wire located on the distributor cap on a 3.4 chevy v6 1993 chevy mark3 van

To answer that question you need to follow the plug wire from the # 1 cylinder to the cap. #1 cylinder is the first cylinder located at the far from of the drivers side portion of the engine. (left side) The cylinders are numbered even and odd, so 1,3,5 left and 2,4,6 right. The firing order is also located on the intake manifold directly in front of the distributor.

Chevy k1500 5.7 v8 wont start

Sounds like your timing is off when you placed the distributor back in or your spark plug wires are crossed. Start with the simple and check the spark plug wire firing order. 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 Cylinder numbers drivers side 1-3-5-7 radiator to firewall. Cylinder numbers passenger side 2-4-6-8 radiator to firewall. Distributor cap #1 is at 5 O'clock and rotates clock wise. Once that is establish to be good then make sure the cylinder 1 is at TDC with the distributor rotor at the #1 position. Good luck and hope it's a crossed firing order.

Found TDC but rotor not on Cylinder #1?

when you bring the piston to TDC on the compression stroke
slide the distributor in and point the rotor towards the number one cylinder once you get it all back together but dont tighten the distributor down tight because you still have to adjust timing
