Gear does not shift from the 1st to the next, what is the problem?

Hi Jeremiah, Has anyone carried out any engine work? If so an over adjusted kick down cable could have the effect you're referring to. If not try flushing the gearbox by draining, dropping the oil pan and replacing the internal oil filter, replace the pan, refill the box and take the vehicle on a ten minute run, drain the fluid once again and refill with new ATF once again. If there is no improvement the problem is in the box, but I believe you will notice a marked improvement. Regards John

Is a 1987 motor from out of a mitsubishi pajero automatic the same as a motor from a 1987 mitsubishi pajero manuel gearbox, and can they be coupled togeather as is

I think they bolt up, would probably only need the spiggot bearing from the manual one put into the auto motor, they just press into the centre of the rear crank flange, very cheap part & probably easier to use a new one rather than trying to get the old one out. Have seen sigma engines bolted into these before too, look to bolt straight in.

Trans not shifting properly

You should check your trans fluid first and make sure it is not low. Check it with the vehicle warmed up, running in park
