    thaks for the reply,

When this light is on a system trouble code will be present in the memory of the ABS electronic control module, the dealer will have to test it for the code, the most likely cause is the wheel speed sensor, but there are four and guessing is very expensive, have the test run.

which brake warning light is on? the xtype does not have pad wear sensors fitted. so i guess you mean the abs light or the handbrake light.more than likely its the abs light and the common problem is the reluctor rings on one or the other of the rear outer constant velocity joints corroded/ fell off get the fault codes out of the abs module to help.

Abs light staying on

The ABS light comes on when there is a malfuntion in the ABS system, not when the brakes are low. On a Ford you more than likely have a dirty sensor or pick up ring on the back side of the rotor. And no you do not have to change the rear drum brakes when changing your front pads but they should be inspected.
Usually you will change 2-3 sets of front pads before the rears need to be changed.

Have you checked your brake system for leaks? You may have air in the system that can cause the ABS light to come on. I had a similar problem with my last truck. ABS light came on and found a hole rusted through one of my rear brake lines.

Need Help. My 2005 Dodge Ram has the abs and brake light on, and the speedo is not working. I have changed the speed control sensor on the rear diff and the transmisson 2 times, though maybe I got a bad...

The ABS and BRAKE warning lights are on in the cluster because there is an active fault in the ABS module. The speed sensors that you have replaced are not direct inputs to the instrument cluster. Your truck should have one or possibly two front wheel speed sensors and one speed sensor in the rear diff. These are all direct inputs to the ABS module which are then calculated and sent out on the "bus" communication wire which is read by the cluster. It would be much easier to diagnose this problem by knowing what the active codes are in the ABS module.

I changed the brake pads on a 05 equinox

Did you bump the ABS pickup at the wheel hub when you changed the brakes? Or are the wires maybe nicked? The noise is normal and might go away depending on the brake pad type you replaced with. The ABS problem might be caused by you.

All the hubs on the car have the abs sensor built into the hub. The abs system has to be re set to read the sensor . The rear hub bearing if noisy should be replaced. There are wiring harnesses that connect to the abs sensor. The harnesses to each of the abs sensor should be replaced.
