If it is black the it most likely is an earth wire for the bulbs. H4 bulbs ( low/ high filaments accounting for the 3 wires. ) have an earth wire on the centre pin
When you have parklights on do the front work? If not then you possibly have blown fuse. If you have trailer plug check wiring in this for possible shorting of wires
According to the BMW manual circuit diagram F33 feeds power through the parklight 'on' switch to left front parklight and left tail lights (all grey/violet wire).
Suggest you remove all left side parklight bulbs, then check fuse does not blow.
If it blows without bulbs installed, check wiring/lamp sockets for short to earth.
Instal one bulb at a time, checking fuse status each time.
Perhaps spurious alarm problem is related to faulty alarm wiring- especially if the alarm is an aftermarket installation. Check quality of any spliced joints to the parklight circuit for possible shorts or water ingress.
Hi, if the bulb is just blown then you can replace it by removing the cover off the back of the headlight (black cover, rotates about 1/4 turn to remove) and just pull the bulb socket out of its retainer. It's the small round thing just beside the main bulb assembly, with 2 wires going to it. Once its out, just pull the bulb out, fit the new one, and reassemble. If it is the same side as the battery, you may have to remove the battery to get enough room to get in there to replace the bulb. If you remove the battery, you'll need the radio code, if its still got the original radio. If the headlight lens is broken from some accident damage, then you'll have to take the bumper off to get the headlight out and replace it. Hope this helps.
