If your van has Antilock brakes it does not have a vacum booster. I have the same van and the brake system is a bad design. A 93 Plymouth/Dodge with antilock brake system and no vaccum booster but a pressure tank then it has a lifetime warrenty. Check with your local Chrysler/Dodge dealership. But first go online and get the tech sheet or recall notice.
if something goes wrong with abs the brake system it reverts back to standard system!! If you can pump brake pedal up and hold it and start engine and it drops thats normal. You say low pedal if you go 15mph on road and check where pedal is when brakes apply.Power brakes will push aLMost to floor while stopped but while moveing you`ll almost go to slide or will go into slide if pedal is pushed to floor.Get on some gravel at 10 mph and hit brakes to a complete stop get out and check to see if all 4 tires slid or 2 front or only 2 rear. this will get you closer to problem good luck.
Recall is a recall, doesnt matter who the owner is. CAll the dealership tell them that you have this year and model and make and they will ask for the VIN and give it to them. If it comes up in the system that it falls under the recall, then have it towed to the shop and tell them that it is a recall repair and make sure it is noted on the paper work
The brake booster/ naster cylinder is located on the firewall on the drivers side of the vehicle. The master cylinder has a resivour (sp) which has a cap and holds brake fluid. The brake booster is right behind that, the master cylinder is bolted right to the booster. The booster looks like a big circle about 10 to 12 inches round and usually 4 to 6 inches thick. It will have a vaccum hose coming off the booster and going to the intake manifold. The master cylinder with have hard lines coming off it which are brake lines. Hope this helps.
