Have to buy and install a new aerial.

My Audi A4 1.8T saloon has lost aerial reception and every station is unlistenable, my aerial is built into the back window, any idea what the problem could be? Thanks, Jim.

It is probably the stereo.. It could be that the pre-amp (which is a small amplifier on the signal coming in from the antenia) has failed.. With out the pre-amp working the reception will be very poor..

IS THIER A AUX INPUT FOR A 1998 A4 RADIO

not sure check with manual or talk to a stereo shop i think there is a connection that fits on to the aerial cable. joe

Check the aerial connection at the back of the unit. Also check the wiring to the antenna, look for an intermittent connection.

If you do not find anything wrong then the problem is on internal wirings connecting to the antenna socket, if that is the case the radio must be taken apart and tested by a technician.

The arial is internal, it is a wire, I think it is running on top of the driver door, not sure.

Check the aerial connection at the back of the unit. Also check the wiring to the antenna, look for an intermittent connection.

On many A4 there is also an antenna amplifier, if that is wrong it can also give you troubles.

If you do not find anything wrong then the problem is on internal wiring connecting to the antenna socket, if that is the case the radio must be taken apart and tested by a technician.

I have 2003 A4 Cabrio. Had 2 radio problems - one the volume control and the other not picking up radio channels. I got a reconditioned radio from Audi for £213 which fixed the volume but the signal still not working. Read another article. The ariel cable runs into the lid of the boot - you can see it on the right. I removed the emergency triangle and behind it is the ariel wire. Wiggled it and confirmed the problem was there. Got the signal back but it might be temporary - cable may be damaged or a connection problem because there are amps behind the trim. I have not taken the whole trim off but a lot of it unclips so you can see what is behind
