My car power stering light comes on and then the wheel is hard to

There is a good chance that the steering is ELECTRIC and NOT hydraulic on this year/make/model VW ... so there is NO RESERVOIR

Hi I can't give sn accurate answer with knowing what the vehicle is! A few things you can check if hydrolic stering. Is there fluid in the resivour? Is the belt turning the pump?? Are there any visible leaks??? If its electric stering are there any lights on the display, if so go to a mechanic to get it diagnosed. Regards Jim...

You will need basic hand tools. First take off the serpentine belt. Unhook the high and low pressure lines, they should be toward the rear of the pump. Remove the four bolts securing it to the engine. Replace the pump and make sure to refill fluid.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FIRST CHECK POWER STEERING FLUID.IF OKAY.CHECK POWER STEERING BELT TENSION.IF BELT TENSION OKAY.POWER STEERING PUMP GOING BAD.

the stering wheel has a loke that can interfer with the barrell. so make shore that the steering wheel is not jamed in lock posistion by terning it to a senter position

your power steering pump has a cap on it.you have cold mark and hot mark.when car is cold engine not running.when you remove power steering cap it should be on cold mark.if not add until you get to cold mark on cap stick..dont over fill or you blow the seal.now when engine is hot been running.turn off car check.power steering cap should read full hot.mean level is correct.when you first check power steering fluid and it was real real low.you got a leaking high pressure hose.or power steering pump seal is leaking.if all check out good.your problem could be low tire pressure.worn ball joints.and tie rod ends.rack and pinion steering gear binding.

IT IS ONE OF TWO THINGS.IT IS EITHER THE
CV JOINT OR THE WHEEL BEARING.

1. Air could still be on your power steering system after you replaced your pump.
2. There could be another reason why your having a hard time turning your steering wheel, have your steering linkages, camber, alignment checked, so as to prevent breaking yor new pump again
