Are you sure you got the timing correct with both heads and the crank shaft, when you installed the timing belt? If wrong, this can cause a no crank/no start situation. As far as the battery and check engine light staying on when key is off, sounds like ignition switch is malfunctioning, or computer. Why did you replace the head gaskets?

SOURCE: Head bolt torque specs needed for 96 tbird 3.8

Head bolts are torque to yeild so you MUST use new bolts.
Tighten cylinder head retaining bolts in numerical sequence in three steps as follows:

  1. 20 Nm (15 lb-ft).
  1. 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
  1. 50 Nm (37 lb-ft)
Loosen retaining bolts one at a time two to three revolutions and retighten as follows:

Long bolts:
  • Tighten to 40-50 Nm (30-37 lb-ft).
  • Rotate an additional 175-185 degrees.
  • Go to next bolt in sequence.
Short Bolts:
  • Tighten to 20-30 Nm (15-22 lb-ft).
  • Rotate an additional 175-185 degrees.
  • Go to next bolt in sequence.
Here is a pic of the sequence

SOURCE: Head bolt torque specs?

I really really really hope you turned the bolts an additional 90 degrees after torquing to 22 Ft-lbs. Otherwise, you may be taking that head off again.

Best of luck,

David

Replaced head gasket on my Vitara g16b everything timer correctly now seems to have no spark. Check engine light doesn't light either

If the check engine light doesn't come on when the key is turned to run then the computer module has no power, check for blown fuse. If you have a code reader hook it up, If it will not light up your PCM is dead.

91 Acura legend has no power to the starter but everything else has power.

Yank the starter relay in the under dash relay box. Check for battery power on terminals 1 & 2 in the relay socket with the key turned to START. If no power, check fuses 31 and 35. If you have power on those terminals, check for ground on terminal 3 in the socket when turned to START. If no ground, the Security system isn't seeing a good signal from the clutch interlock switch or the auto transmission shift console switch. Check those out

Hey I have a 91 cb lancer I turn the key to on then to start and all I hear is a click why won't it start what could be the problem

When you turn the key to the "on" position, see if the panel lights come on and try honking the horn too, if everything works it means the battery is fine.

Now, turn the key to start the engine. Does the engine just give out a click? If so, the battery terminals may be loose. Tighten the terminals leading to the battery posts with the correct tools and try turning the key once again.

I replaced the Ignition Switch now I dont get any power Thru out the Car, I had power before Switch was replaced now I dont?? any Suggestions This is a 91' RS Camaro 5.0L.

You have missed hooking up a wire or hooked up a wire incorrectly.Do your interior lights work or does any thing at all work or is it that it just won't turn over. If it will not turn over it is probably because the factory anti-theft does not recognize the new key coding therefore will not allow the vehicle to start. It will have to be programmed for this vehicles computer. If their is no power at all to anything then you have missed hooking up a wire or hooked it up incorrectly or mistakenly unplugged another wire, Double check that all the wires are correctly plugged in and in the right place, Also check all you fuses sometimes when doing this kind of thing and the battery was not disconnected a wire could have shorted out and blown a fuse check all the fuses in the engine compartment and under the dash.

Just replaced the motor in my 91 mr2 and hooked everything back up now as soon as i turn the key to on the motor starts to crank

youve got the wires on the starter wrong. there are usually two small connections on the starter, but only one small wire. if you install wire on wrong one, it grounds without the key being turned to start. check it and swap that wire only. large cable to battery and large connector wire should stay on the large bolt to the solenoid

I replaced the head gasket on my 91 honda civic now it wont crank over???

did you put the belt back on the camshaft correctly while removing the head off the block changing the head gasket? if you dint than timing is off... STOP everything and check make sure you put everything back in timing... if you did you may have to rotate dizzie back and forth to catch the correct timing while turning your engine, "Caution" all hondas' engine is interference engine which mean if you put the timing incorrect position you will damage your valves. its very important that you put the timing back in the correct position, if not you will damage your head and valves.
